How inaccurate are the player ratings?

    According to ign:

" Marcus Banks is a 70 for speed and Gary Payton is an 80!?! Does anyone actually watch the NBA? Marcus Banks is the fastest player in the entire league but in the game he's slower than the ancient defender formerly known as Glove. And it gets worse. Rip Hamilton has a lower field goal rating than Lindsey Hunter. Antoine Walker, Mr. 5-24 himself, has a higher field goal rating than Michael Redd. And maybe worst of all, Tim Duncan, arguably the best player in the NBA, is only rated as an overall 89... the same overall rating for Paul Pierce."

Is this true? Won't buy this piece of **** if it is.

even if the ratings arent perfect, players still like they are supposed to and average almost exactly what you would expect from them.

thank you.....i just said this in another thread, but a big deal is being made over Lindsey Hunter having a higher FG rating that Rip Hamilton, but play a game against Detriot and see which one scores more....people get too caught up in the ratings to realize that the players play realistically

yep and also the ratings change in the game depending on if the player is doing good even on 2 player games so the ratings are null.

the game is very good, but the ratings are horrible, in one instance I was playing with the nuggets vs. the heat, and shaq appeared to be moving faster than voshon lenard. Although, this is easily cured by editing players, it will just take a while to do so.. No biggie

but the point is, did that ever come into play and cost you any points? i definitely admit they messed up player ratings on this game, that's pretty obvious, but the players still play like themselves and get really good stats compared to waht you'd expect in real life.

I guess some people just care more about that ultimate realism than I do, but when I look at the stats at the end of a game and they look really good, I just can't really be worried about what somebody's FG rating is when they put up 20 on me....

A couple noticeable ones on the Celtics.

Mark Blount should really be higher than a 53....seeing as they gave Raef LaFrentz a 64. Marcus Banks should be faster than Gary Payton. Walter McCarty, as much as I like him should not have an 81 FG rating. He is a below average shooter from the field, but great from 3 pt. range, hence the 85 3 pt. rating which is spot on.
