I don't use it too often simply because I don't remember to use it at times. But it's extremely useful for drawing contact and getting to the line. And I must say some of the animations look sweet as hell when the basket drops.
I wish I could save replays because I was using the Grizz against the Bobcats and I was controlling James Posey running down the wing by himself on a break. Jason Kapono was closing in down the middle and as I jumped for my layup, he jumped to block it.
I hit the layup button again (picture me going baseline for the layup) and Posey did the Michael Jordan layup from one side of the rim to the other!

I was floored. No foul was called simply because instead of drawing contact, I avoided contact. It was the sweetest thing to watch. What amazed me so much is that I don't think that MJ layup is even in the game. I've never ever seen it before last year or prior to that. It wasn't overly done or forced. It just seemed natural. It seemed like what someone would do sensing that they were about to get their shot blocked or hit themselves.
You can use Freestlye Air alot after offensive boarding. Usually you'll draw contact and get to the line. Also, double pumping on your jumpshots.
Definitely don't forget to use this because it's quite useful and creates alot of nice animations!
