Play Calling and Offense Strategy

This is the first basketball game i've played since NBA Live 95 so am still getting used to a lot of things. One thing I'm having trouble with is getting open shots on offense. I havn't really played around with different types of offense or play calling so am looking for suggestions. I play as the Celtics so am suited to a more perimter / guard oriented style of play.

Anyone have any suggestions on what offense would be good for me and when/how to execute plays successfully? Thanks.

I use the default "dynamic" playcalling set, that's what yours should be set on just by default. The two plays out of it that I use are Pick and Roll and Isolation. Obviously Isolation with Paul Pierce should be your most frequent play, get him the ball, call the play and do some freestyle or pump fakes to see if you can get him an open look. The pick and roll(press down on the d-pad) work pretty good just about everytime you run it. There are two good things that can happen:
1) You get a good pick and the picker's defender doesn't jump out to cover you, so you get an open 3
2) A good pick but the picker's defender DOES cover you, which leaves your PF or C to be guarded by whoever was guarding the guy with the ball. So call it with Payton and if this happens you will have the opposing team's PG guarding your C or PF, get the ball down low to him and he will either get an easy backdown or someone will come double to help, which will leave someone else open.

Those are the only two plays I run, other than that I just swing the ball around and use pump fakes to see if I can get the defenders off their feet. It is pretty difficult to get a really open shot in this game, which is very nice, makes you work for your points a little.

I've been using dynamic as well and do use isolation a lot with pierce. Does anybody use the more advanced plays than the basic 4 default ones?
