What types of things can you mod on the PC version of Live?

I already have the Xbox versions of both ESPN 2k5 and NBA Live 2005 but I'm not satisfied with the gameplay of either even with slider adjustments. I want to know what types of changes can be made to NBA Live 2005 on the PC other than ratings and visual changes. I'm thinking about picking up the PC version of Live for the mods if they make a difference.

Are there any mods that effect the actual gameplay other than what's available with sliders?

You could edit a players scoring area last year which determined where they liked to score from.

That was already predetermined by other ratings. It was very rare that this needed to be changed once the ratings were correct. Why do you think they didnt put this in the game as a viewable or editable rating?

Not really. the players' scoring tendency is determined by the SCOREAREA field in the database.

Ill post a list of the tendencies later (for the 2004 version. )

and also the DUNK packages and Career packages.
a player can have a 99 dunk rating but if his dunk package isnt changed accordingly then he will still not have any of the dunks.
Try this. edit an existing player (not a CAP) who cant jump and make his dunks rating higher. nothing will happen.

You can also change the SHOOTING RANGE.

user Created players (CAPS) don't have a score area attribute. they will just follow what the plays tell them. This is why the changing the SCorearea is important for CAPS.

But you're right. you don't really need to change the score area fo the existing players since EA has already figured them out.
unless of course the player started changing playing styles in the middle of the season. Like if SHaq secretly developed a three point shooting capability in the offseason.

                        DUNK PACKAGES (DUNKPACK)
                        (this is for Live 2004)

A player's Dunk Package (DUNKPACK) controls the types of dunks he can perform, with the values ranging from 1-16. Thanks to OldFoolStyle for this DUNKPACK values reference guide.

                        1: Nothing but layups
2: More layups. If your player has higher jumping ratings, he will perform more fancy layups.
3: Same layups as 1 and 2, but you cannot take off from further than 5 feet.
4: All of the above layups, with a couple of dunks.
5: Some basic one and two handed dunks
6: Some basic one and two handed dunks
7: Two-handed dunks from 4-5 feet, layups out to around 10 feet
8: One and two handed dunks
9: More athletic one and two handed dunks
                        10: Athletic dunks for forwards
                        11: Athletic dunks for guards
12: Clyde Drexler signature - gliding one and two handed dunks, including free throw line
                        13: Generic big man dunks
14: More generic big man dunks
15: Athletic big man dunks - SHAQ!
16: Air Jordan/Doctor J dunks - all dunks, including free throw line

There are plenty of mods that make a "difference" to the overall experience but sadly, not much can be done to tweak the gameplay except change the ratings. The graphics patches account for a MUCH more enjoyable experience and add a little bit of replay value but they obviously don't affect the gameplay.

If EA decides to release a patch to fix some of the bugs in the game like the CPU fast break catch up AI, then you most probably won't be able to download it on the console unless you have XBox Live whereas if you have the PC version, it's just a few clicks away.

I want to know what types of changes can be made to NBA Live 2005 on the PC other than ratings and visual changes. I'm thinking about picking up the PC version of Live for the mods if they make a difference.

Are there any mods that effect the actual gameplay other than what's available with sliders?
There are plenty of mods that make a "difference" to the overall experience but sadly, not much can be done to tweak the gameplay except change the ratings. The graphics patches account for a MUCH more enjoyable experience and add a little bit of replay value but they obviously don't affect the gameplay.

If EA decides to release a patch to fix some of the bugs in the game like the CPU fast break catch up AI, then you most probably won't be able to download it on the console unless you have XBox Live whereas if you have the PC version, it's just a few clicks away.
