NBA live mobile game decision in a nutshell

To summarize: if you fail to identify and analyze the obstacles, you don’t have a strategy. Instead, you have a stretch goal or a budget or a list of things you wish would happen.

NBA live dug their own grave when they let Mike Wang go, he was the producer with the vision, strategy and direction. He wanted to go in to a more SIM direction but the shareholders went against that idea so he packed up his things and went to 2k. Then the executives replaced him with a hockey guy who came up with elite 11 and like they say the rest is history.

I believe if EA has a real and thoughtful multiyear strategy, and follows through, NBA Live can sell more units and regain overall marketshare over time. But my impression is reactive decision-making has governed their decisions. Please, please prove skeptics wrong, EA!

If by "over time" you mean a decade or so, then maybe. Live will be lucky to be around 5 years from now.

NBA live should have been doing what 2k has been doing for over a decade and that is to input consumer feedback into the game. You could read a post from the 2k wishlist thread where a 2k developer states we aggregate wishes into lists to last us to 2k20. This is where NBA live failed instead of inputting consumer ideas into the product they were dictated by shareholders on what makes a fun game for casual gamers. The competition even went out of their way to hire OS community members to work on their game.

They're too far behind at this point to be any kind of real threat to 2K at this point. If people are expecting a z masterpiece with Live 17 on consoles, they're going to be very disappointed. I'm looking for VERY limited features and game modes with this iteration.

Probably going to have play now, and a very barebones franchise mode. The core of the game is no doubt going to focus on LUT and Pro-AM.
