I use 10 mins qrtrs. 11 and 12 are just WAY too high, IMO. FGA's per team are spot on.
10 is ok. But will the FGAs get out of hands on 11 if you play normal realistic NBA ball? I mean this in case you just think that 11 or 12 takes too long to play.

Everyone has their own style so the FGA's is very dependent on that as well as the minutes. That being said I play 12 minutes and find that the stats (FGA's especially) come out pretty nicely. I have my game speed at 41 also. It's not that I dont run, I'm just not constantly jamming the turbo button or pushing the ball up. Playing solid defense on the cpu also makes them move the ball around. So in the end, I can get away with 12 minute quarters, if I'm aiming for realistic stats.

The CPU uses the clock if you do, the problem is as a user, you're more inclined to take a lot of shots. I played 12 minutes with 40 Speed, I took 81 shots, the computer too 77, and their were about 20 free throw attempts each.

Another time though I took 100 shots, but only went to the line 10 times, and the computer in the 90's and they went to the line 20+ times.

I also tried out CPU vs CPU with 12 minutes quarter's, and one took 75 shots, and the other 79 shots, and they went to the line between 15-20 times, can't remember the exact numbers, the score was 98-85.

I play 10 and I get about 80 shots for the cpu and human player. It used to take a lot less for me to get that. THe cpu defense is tougher and I have to move the ball around more, as well as the cpu utilizing the clock as well.. ESPN takes me 8 minutes in comparison to get 80 shots.

Depends on your style...I walk the ball up, take my time, rarely use the turbo.

42 speed, 11 minute quarters, 75-80 shots a game for both sides.
