Few questions about the game of basketball

1- What is the difference between a personal and a team foul?
2- When are you in the "foul limit"
3- I use pared sliders with NBA Live 2005. I want to know if I am supposed to intercept balls during a throw in.
4- I don't get much the franchise/salary cap thing of the NBA. I understood the salary cap rule of the NFL (due to playing to Madden several years) But how come a team can play over the salary cap? And how can I sign a star player when i am over the cap? How come when i get rid of a player my total of money spent on salaries doesn't get lower?

    Thanks in advance

1 - A personal foul is a foul against a player, it is also a team foul at the same time. Team foul just refers to the total amount of personal fouls that all the players on a team have.
2- once you have 5 team fouls in a quarter you are over the limit. from then on, every personal foul will result in free throws for the opposing team
3- you can try to intercept them if you want too
    4- too complicated.

well, if you mean "get rid of a player" as in release him, you still have to incur his salary until his contract runs out. So if he has 3 years left and you release him, you are gonna still be paying him for 3 years whether he is on your team or not. The only way to get out of his contract is to trade him away. So find a team willing to take these guys and trade them for players with just one year left on their contract. You can check the years left on a players contract by going to your GM's Desk, and then you can cycle through all the other teams and find a guy with just one year left. The only problem is, it is hard to find a team that isn't already over the salary cap, so they are likely not gonna trade with you. From what I've seen so far in my dynasty, the best team to unload big contracts on is Charlotte and New Jersey.

I have no idea why you can have more money in contracts than salary room. Seems wierd to me too.

            Atlanta Braves
            - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

There is some kinds of fouls that are not team fouls, just personal.

You can go over the cap in salary, but, you can't go over in both staff, scouting, and player salary. There is a designated amount for player salary and a designated amount for total money. This means you can sign better staff, (which I dont remember that being in Live?) or sign decent to bad staff and still be under the salary limit.

I hope that helps more than hinders.
