Keeping it fresh with NBA Live

Okay, after playing ESPN for almost a month now, I decided to go back and give Live another try. So far, I am playing on pretty much default sliders, other than steals and speed, and I just had an awesome game with the Cavaliers (Me) vs Celtics. The game went in to overtime, and I ended up winning 127-119. It was great. It shouldn't have even been close, because of all of my turnovers, but they had the lead for the majority of the game.

Going into the third, I think they were up by 11, but I chipped away, and by the 4th quarter, I was down only 3. I had the opportunity to win in regulation, but missed a jumper with Luke Jackson. Here are a few of the key stats:

    Cavaliers 127 119 Celtics
    James 37 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds
    Ilgauskas 29 points, 14 rebounds
    Gooden 16 points, 14 rebounds, 3 assists

    Pierce 41 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists
    Davis 11 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist
    Payton 29 points, 6 assists

    Cavs Celtics
    Points 127 119
    Rebounds 66 52
    Assists 21 19
    Steals 2 10
    Blocks 13 3
    Fouls 34 27
    Turnovers 20 8
    Field Goals 46/98 40/104
    FG % .469 .385
    3Pt FG 6/26 5/17
    3pt % .231 .294
    FT 29/41 34/53
    FT % .707 .642
    Off. Reb 18 15
    Def. Reb 48 37

As you can see, there were quite a few FT's shot, which is a major plus in my opinion. I need to tweak the Steals and blocks some how, and this game will be pretty good. It is fun, and immersive, so hopefully I can get into it. ESPN is still a good game, but I just need to take a break and have a change of pace. Don't want to get burnt out so quickly before the season starts.

I can't believe how tough Pierce was to contain. For the majority of the 4th quarter, LBJ was on the bench with foul trouble, as he was in the 2nd as well. But he came out fired up in the 3th quarter and Overtime period. In the third quarter, he shot 7/11 having 15 points in the quarter. It was great. He also went 10/13 from the FT line. Never before in a videogame do I remember so many fouls. It was crazy. But it kept me honest I guess.

:y4: Nope, just went in to OT. I think it was 109-109 at the end of regulation. It was great though. Are you playing Live too bro? It is a good change of pace right now, and I can see myself switching back and forth just to keep things fresh. Definately a good thing to have two good titles.

Yeah, I just bought it Sunday. I'm playing it as I type this. The player lock is alot of fun. Honestly, the only issue I have with Live is the insane shot blocking. If you take that away you have a great freakin' game. It's still a good game as it is.

Nole all you have to do is download the roster update in my sig. If you have a Ps2 all you have to do is edit all the SGs and SFs. I did all the editing and the game is classic.

Hey stormlor, what did you lower it to? If the blocks were toned down, then I can see this game being great. Even though they only had 3 against me, I had a few too many against them.

                    Thanks bro,

All SGs and SF's block were droped to a big fat 0 so that the blocks become realistc. Then just lower the On Ball Physical D slider to 0 for user and CPU and you won't be getting 14 blocks a game anymore. Very realstic. People finally miss shots too What happens is what happens in the NBA, the guy gets a hand in your face but doesn't block it.

That's what I noticed in a game I played with the default settings. It wasn't that the cpu blocked me so much as it was that my guys blocked the cpu player's shots too effectively.
