It locks you onto one position of your choice for the entire game. It has no real affect on gameplay except for being very realistic in that you are now a part of a team instead of the whole team and it's also a helluva lot more challenging.

Yeah but doesn't it unlock when you pass the ball away. I would lock onto the PG, but once I received the pass and then passed it away the lock came off. It was pretty annoying.

No it doesn't unlock. Check your control settings

i just tried a 5 min quarter game using player lock on rip hamilton (slightly tweaked version of pareds sliders) and i found that it made for an extremely realist experience! It makes offense and defence much more rewarding, as u have to work for all ur points, and on defence u have to concentrate on shutting down ur man. The end score was 46 to 43, rip has 21 points on 6/17 shooting, 8/10 fts, 7 rebs and 2 assists....very satisfying game

And that, my friend, is why I do it. I had a game the other day where I locked on Zydrunas Ilgauskas and I won player of the game despite losing to the Nuggets. My stats were 27 pts, 10 reb, 3 ast and 7 blk.
