Had buddies working there, invited me there & used to tell me stuff all the time, knowing that I was going into game ani/design (Capilano/DigiP).
It doesn't matter the (our)input, they're going to do it their way, and sprinkle in buzzwords for renamed tech from the past, call it new, etc.. You've seen my letter to EA, and now reading that even you had to be adamant in 2016 about things the community wants is a slap in the face. What was the purpose of these yearly surveys and questionnaires if you even have to do that in the present? Its like they don't get it.
Wouldn't surprise me that we'll just be waiting sometime years from now for Sean Obrien Jr's apology letter, and Andrew Wilson II talking about EA's 2nd generation of higher up saying that 2020 version of Live will be the fully fledged version that Live 17/18 was supposed to be. How in the world do you have a delay to a delay? That's why I don't buy they're products new. Get them used, if that. Live's been a 2nd rate NBA game to me I can only stomach the demos. Outside of Live 10 which was decent, it took a 2k guy to get them somewhat on track, but they go right back to derailing themselves...

They need new GC's too. They need to find people who will sit down and point the issues out like what you, myself and a few hardcore others have done. Don't get these yes men. When you read their blogs and vlogs, they seem bewildered to the reactions of gamers. That right there tells you they don't get it, and the GC's(SLA's) aren't helping. Just a mess of a franchise man, I haven't seen anything like this in all my years of gaming.
      Incompetence....

I do agree also on needing some fresh eyes, and not yes men. That's the only way we're going to advance this title, is through open, honest and constructive feedback and criticism.

The new things that were in the game were far from buzz words, or rebranded ideas. Those are the things that I was truly excited about. I'm sure there would have been some marketing buzzwords thrown at them, but I'll assure you that it wasn't rehashed features or renamed to bring excitement.

I've talked to several GC since this was announced and we're all pretty much on the same page. I wish you all could play with the new things in place, that way we could have an open discussion about it.

I'm hopeful that they'll land on solid footing with the extra time, and that the feedback was listened to. If not, I'll gracefully bow out .
SMH.... NO DISRESPECT WTF but man, this paragraph is an tall tale sign of what's been happening with this franchise and surely what's to come... Guys such as yourself have done as much as you can and there's only so much you can say to these developers who clearly don't control anything that happens with the development of this title... For them to publicly state that " the game was fun coming from an older group in suits at an investment meeting full of other older men who are solely interested in the marketplace " cuts through my basketball gaming soul!!! The open dialogue and the lack there of is not the reason they don't get it, it's the fear that they won't get it.... It's been 7 years!! How transparent do they have to be??? At the end of the day, they'll lean on FROSTBITE and LUT to capture the overseas crowd that supports NBA LIVE MOBILE and loose any leftover nostalgia from past games only to find themselves closing the NBA LIVE department doors for good!! It's over y'all!! They don't even care about their fans..... Peace NBA LIVE COMMUNITY!!!

        Not surprised.

I would be optimistic about the idea of 'taking time to get things right' but this is the 3rd time we've heard that in 6 years with not a lot results coming from it...so I'm a bit numb on that..

I trust in Will though, I'm personally deciding to take his post as 'They were going to release the game without roster editing again and decided that it was a bad idea'....haha

We will see what they cook up...it will come when it comes I guess...

NO DISRESPECT: If EA truly needs more time to reach NBA LIVE's full potential then I'm all for it.... NOW, you have Developers coming out with these apologies looking for sympathy of some sort and we couldn't even get a SCREENSHOT!!! If they've been working hard as they say they were, why not display or even soften the blow for those who'll continue to support you? Their bosses have clearly stepped right over them as they lay there so why not bring up the games moral??? GAMECHANGERS have all ready sold out so there's no reason to jump ship come Fall.. We know! If in fact EA decides to type up a blog after the Madden Bowl, it's gonna be the worst reaction the NBA Live franchise will have taken so far... I won't get into how they run THEIR business by any means but I'll say this, the problem lies within and if EA believes they're some type of secret society with God speed and power, it's over!!! Watch what I tell you! I'm done with them...

The game should release in the fall . I never understood the purpose of a spring release

I imagine there are too many hoops to jump through and that's why they don't do it, but if they just scrapped Live and did NCAA Basketball again, it would be a gold mine for them.

Hopefully they use the extra time to put edit player/roster back in the game. It's inexcusable, and would have been inexcusable 10 years ago as well.

Re: The Next NBA Live Has Been Pushed to Fall 2017

Roster Editing is a MUST. I provided Live Team members info about Ratings being off in 15 & 16 for Numerous players. Now these were NOT big name players, but valuable Role Players. Their Ratings were HORRIBLE and didnt matchup with players who had LOWER skill levels. I was told it would be looked into BUT that if it would break the game or make things looked skewed nothing would be done. And nothing was done. At that point I told myself I would NOT buy another Live game until EDITING was added back. I cant buy a game when ratings will NOT be towards a Players Skill level.

Why would they ever have considered a March release? What am I missing?

The word going around is that NBA Live 17 wasn't released because they didn't want to seem inferior to a NBA 2k18 release in the same year so they wanted to match up head to head. Casual gamers would purchase NBA 2k18 knowing the new rookies would be included.

After hearing the amount of money this company makes a year off of Ultimate Team [nearly a billion dollars, shoutout to the PressRow Podcast] Why on earth would you not take the risk of dropping 2 games in one year. One, right at all-star weekend to in there own words "disrupt" the market while 2K seems to be outdated and people are clamoring for something new, while releasing the updated full Live 18 version in the fall with all the bells and whistles.

Something similar to Live 16 free to play demo would be all that's necessary to get a great jump in consumer awareness and interest by the casuals. Youtuber's would be advertising their game for weeks while providing feedback on gameplay. You save yourself a somewhat botched release in the fall if the game ships with gameplay bugs and whatnot.

                          Just my 2 cents.

Because they'd be giving away their thunder, graphics, gameplay mechanics added, etc.

But in the fall, they wanted a spring release. They didn't feel as if it was complete enough. Now if they don't feel like it is totally fleshed out in the fall, then what? A spring 2018 release?

They have a track record of teasing the fans, and then at the last second pulling or delaying the game. And the most loyal fans say the same thing: "It's better that the game is delayed to work on more stuff". At some point someone has to say WTF? (no pun intended lol)

On the bright side, 2K will probably release their best game ever. They tend to do that when a hint of competition comes around.

The bright side of all this (if we can can find one) is that we are getting a fresh almost-new game every 3-4 years (not necessarily great, but fresh). It's almost like there is a 3rd and 4th companies making games. Let's just imagine that this year Konami is making the game. And let's pretend that Live 14-16 was released by 989 Sports. Lots of competition...
