I understand where you are coming from and agree. I want a smooth gameplay experience. Animation does not hold Madden back though. The new trailer dropped and it was more of the same from fans. Equipment issues, graphics not much improved, animations, sideline, etc. the same complaints year after year and it sells. Granted it is the only game on the market but it will sell and sell well. Most making complaints will undoubtedly pick up the game.
I have never tried to make a video game nor do I want to. I don't know how hard it is overhaul a game. I do know that if people are not satisfied with Live that they will not buy it or go the route of the competition.
The reason why I think Live is about to start to climb in sales is because it is not the other game. How many shooting game are out? People like choices and will try things out. There will be purchases from the die hands, people that are done with the other game, intrigued people, fans of the cover athlete, Black Friday purchases, etc. I'm excited to know more about the sig shot tech and dribble mechanics. I have always preferred the movement and atmosphere of Live. It just feels right to me. In 16 the horrid post play was inexcusable. Some of the animations were down right ugly. That did not change the fact that me along with a lot others played the game.
I think the project and vision will be satisfying. WTF mentions legacy animations tho. Seems like some of the ugly from 09/10 is just part of the DNA right? That does not give an excuse to keep it in or cover it up. I guess to close out Madden plays and has always played like madden, 2k like 2k, COD like COD, Halo like Halo, Forza like Forza, and Live like Live. Do these titles improve, innovate, and get better?? Yes. But at the core do the play the same??? I think it is unrealistic to think that NBA Live can or will be perfect. As a consumer interested in this product I want to see more animations, more dunks, better post play, more sig shots, and player editing to name a few. From what I see and here that may all be addressed. That is more than enough to for me to purchase.
I hope what they bring to the table is also more than enough for others. We shall see.
