As much joy as I would've had in trashing this game, I simply can't do it. It looks like the NBA Live team has finally managed to put together a product that's at least worth giving a shot. It's still rough around the edges in some areas, but I I'm actually impressed by what I've seen. 2K isn't going anywhere for me, but I'll be willing to get this too if I enjoy playing it. The demo will tell us a lot.

I freakin hated that!

I have to say it looks impressive. Animations are light years better. And saw a bunch of new contextual animations which were sorely needed.

Great work EA. It looks like they actually resurrected a game from the dead.

Also You still don't have to push a button to jump during the jumpball.

The ballhandler just reacts so weird when the user is pressing turbo in a tight space

Some good, some bad. Im definitely more interested than Ive been in Live in 10 years.

GOOD

Some of the animations looked beautiful. The rebounding and the Curry move. And that Green block.

Were those charges being drawn on drives???? A few plays show that barrelling into the paint is not a viable strategy.


BAD

I think they stole the jump baseball pitch rocket pass from 2K8.

Nothing resembling an actual offense. This was user vs user (I think?) so Im keen to see how the CPU plays.

Defenders have no idea passes are being thrown.

Those are charges. And on the upper levels, the defense generally does a good job picking and batting passes.

So for some of us (well, me) who missed it, will the demo only feature The One mode, or will there be a Cavs-Warriors match to play (like in previous years)?

Should be nearly the same as what's being shown at EA Play. Cavs Warriors included.

Based off the video, I've got a feeling that jumpshot mechanics are a blend of 2k's (almost always) automatic green and the % based shot in Live 16

Maybe WTF is allowed to confirm, but I'm guessing if you hit green and you're wide open it'll say 'great shot' and usually go in but it won't be automatic. If it's green and it's guarded you've got a good chance but not 100% again

And I'm also guessing you can shoot at any point of the meter like in 16

They're overhauling plays. Most aren't in as of yet. Most of what you see are placeholders or carryover from a few years ago.

It's still a lot of funky Live stuff in the game.

It's some good animations in there too. Once you get past the initial excitement you'll start seeing stuff from the past.

I don't know how much they'll clean up but they got plenty of feedback.

One of the devs played made it look pretty smooth because he knew how to dribble, calls plays and get around his man.

They are way far behind 2k on sig stuff, whether its celebrations, packages or dribble moves in general.

You can do some cool dribble stuff though and have fun.

I think the game will be playable so basically if you like live already you'll love it anyway.

The people that don't they will have some work to convince them. Their trailers are trash for starters.
