Re: Is it vital NBA Live is released before NBA 2K?

I reckon this is the year where a base has been used and improved upon. Reckon the game will be pretty good and it's from here on that the game can be competitive.

Still, I'm at least confident that The One will have people coming back, as long as EA sticks to their promise of loot crates, added content (from time-to-time) and boss battles. That'll keep people playing

coudnt agree more nutty, all live has to produce is a solid game this year. not compete!

2k is in a GREAT space sales wide, but it seems theyre losing more of us "older" gamers year after year due to them catering to a younger audience (its all good though!) imo. live had all of our hearts before 2k became prominent, so maybe one day they can get that old thang back lol, but for now i just need a solid game.

i still play ncaa football 14, college hoops 2k8 so i dont need all the new bells and whistles - just a fun basketball game that doesnt nickle and dime me at every turn.

I got you old timers! I'm right there fighting for our voices too.

I'm looking forward to the game this year more than any other in years past. I literally cannot play Live 16 any more. It's that big of a difference gameplay and animation wise.

And the devotion of the team to moving this series forward are making me want it to succeed even more.

As long as they don't have another embarrassing pre release moment, like last years generic rookie faces- then subsequently tuck their tale between their legs- they'll be good to go....they dont need to (and cant; really) compete with 2k right now...just concentrate on getting out a smooth release, and keep the lines of communication open with the fanbase..

          Just ready for the demo!

See how open minded I am lol..I haven't touched NBA live in Tons of years, literally was previous Gen of consoles.

I Did get a demo and played it my nephew's console the last Live they released, and I shut it off within a few minutes

I felt like it was a late April fool's joke or a prank but that was the real product.

I've always preferred 2K to Live, but I can see why some would love it, and some might not, I don't trash if people hate a game I love, or love a game I don't like.

I do need to ask you though, why do you think NBA 2k is made for kids? It's hands down a SIM, depending on how you play and what difficulty, it's an extremely deep game.

Now I don't play online usually, so maybe online is different, but from my experience no matter what have your playing online people trash talk and CHEESE.

Remember Madden before next Gen, the money plays.. That's killed online.

Back to NBA 2K, what makes you say kids game?

The reason besides having another title we can choose from, even though I only have P.C.

I can see the videos of live and know for sure is laid and bounds better than they ever put out.

Literally for the first time, I could see myself playing BOTH. That's how much I think LIVE has built this game up from the ground.

6 weeks or so until.. We get our greedy hands on them 🖐

i dont want to derail the thread..

im referring to "myplayer" modes. 2k14 and 15s parks felt like a good represenation of what i would see/hear at any park/rec in the world BEFORE demigods. the more popular the mode got, the more casual gamers have joined and theyre more concerned with the bells and whistles around the game than just hooping.

                ON TOPIC lol
what gravitated me towards Live 16 was i could just hoop with other ppl who just wanted to hoop. i dont have to play mycareer to chase badges, or pay real $ to be competitive. i can just ball out. most casual gamers arent playing Live until it gets more popular. so chances are i have a solid chance of running into some solid teammates who actually play/played basketball. i know every game is gonna have its cheesers and what not but im SO turned off by the 2k community (and 2ks willingness to appease them - 84 patches) right now that i want no parts of the game any longer. most of the community is younger 8-20ish, im a bit older than that lmao.

as stated before, i just need a solid fun game for 18. i dont care when they release it as long as i have another basketball game to play im good.

EAs focus cant be competing. Live is now the old guy at gym telling all the young cats what he used to be (ME!!!! lol), they just need to focus on delivering a solid product, stay on that eliptical, swim once twice a week, hit the weights a few times a week (no where near as much weight as we lifted in college) and be ok with who they are now. no telling if live can regain the glory days but dont kill your future days trying to keep up with the monster with muscles coming out his ears (2k)lol

                just my opinion

I agree that scripted my career is crap..I don't mind a story at the beginning... But to be getting text messages and stuff..is cheesy.

Wish they'd cut out the silly scripted storyline..and yeah VC I feel is a complete ripoff..you should be ABLE to earn everything, through achievements.

I don't play online, P.C has a cheat engine that's been around for years...until 2k cracks down on that I'm no going online.

It's why I'm rooting for LIVE,if they up their game..I believe 2k will lose many customers..you know the jackasses cap the my career attribute, you MUST play online to unlock it. That's B.S.

Rooting for LIVE,and hoping maybe LIVE 19,will be available directly on P.C or though the Xbox one Cross play..right now it's select titles, but imagine by next year the hot selling games will be Xbox one X and p.c playable.

                  Cheers 🍻

No demo announced, no improvements announced, no hands on feedback from fans. Live took the "don't talk about it, be about it" approach in their advertising and word of mouth spread fast, positively. The LIVE demo will be out in a couple weeks, crickets on that same announcement from the competition. Personally I'm glad EA is doing their own thing this round and daring to try a new approach. It makes it all exciting again.

I think EA should follow their own schedule and release the game when they feel comfortable. 2K has their own following and people are hell bent on buying that game. By EA releasing the Demo, it's either going to hurt them or make sales go up. I think the Demo for Live 16 was average at best. It wasn't a bad game by any means, but it also wasn't everyone's cup of tea. Most people only played the demo until the "Other Game" was released. It was a time waster for many, but that gameplay has to be right or it doesn't matter when NBA Live is released. Gameplay has to go beyond LIVE 16 or you are going to see that same trend from 2016.

i almost made a seperate thread but remebered this one!

with the 2k hype train getting ready to move full speed ahead - if ready, i think EA should release the full game to folks that have preordered Live 18 on Sept 8th

this way, folks who have already invested hours into your demo are less intrigued with the other games demo in favor of playing your full game. by releasing the same day (9/15), you risk losing folks who can only afford one game and most of them will go the more popular route

                        just a thought..

with all the info coming out for the other side, i dont want folks to forget Live 18 like we did for Live 16(which imo is a decent fun game). im VERY excited to see Live 18 in full, and dont want them to lose any unnecessary momentum
