1. Not possible to pre-order yet despite other EA titles set for release later in the year being available to pre-order.

2. No demo release date, supposed to be August, which is only a couple of weeks away.

3. No new official trailers or info since The One announcement.

It doesn't look good is all im saying...

They will miss a huge opportunity if they cancel or delay. The season starts earlier in October.

It's all because they somehow don't have an official cover athlete for 18. But my best bet is that it's a digital only full release with no cover athlete. I mean we could say the same about 2K not having an official trailer either...

A lot of speculation but with a little research you can knock out a few things

They DO have a cover athlete that is still under wraps. It's all about eliminating the big names you've seen with 2k and thinking about the other big names that were in the trailers we've seen. John Wall has not been at a 2k event yet as well as Butler (might be wrong) or Giannis or Lebron (that's unlikely). My pick is on Wall being the cover athlete, or even Harden cos he's popular and a guard

As for the game being cancelled. I highly doubt it since the game has been demoing at Summer league games (check twitter and search with "#NBALIVE18" or "NBA Live 18" and you'll see that. It's been demoed at EA Play where previous releases were kept under wraps. AND, most importantly, there is a much more positive response to the game so I don't see why they would

Essentially, what I think is EA's NBA twitter and Facebook SHOULD be promoting it a little more. I suspect it will when it nears August. What they're promoting right now is Live Mobile because it's established and it makes them money

i think its just marketing. i think we'll see and hear a lot more once the demo is released and ea can gauge a true response to 18. if i were ea (and the game was ready) i would release the full game a week after the demo drops, BEFORE 2k hype train gets rolling.

yes you risk getting pushed to the side when 2k releases but at least folks have a copy of live to push to the side rather than leaving it at the store because they chose 2k. live doesnt need a homerun this year just enough to say "ok, were back in the game".

folks are really fatigued of 2k for whatever reason (there are many) and now is the time to capitalize. people want to like live. even people who are staying with 2k hope live at least puts 2k on notice, that you now have comp.

Honestly we've seen all of the above already, multiple times....followed by a cancellation...so I can see why that doesnt necessarily bring comfort...

With that said, Live 17 could have came out, but negative remarks and criticisms in my mind got it cancelled.

With Live 18, I don't see that being the case. I can say that I feel pretty comfortable that given the vast improvement, that this game will be released. Cornell just posted the other day and reiterated the 9/15 release date. With Live 17, I felt it'd be released, but wasn't ready to be released by a long shot.

Also, there is a reason for the cover announcement delay and the preorder links. ��

Id say im a little confused about the marketing of Live so far. If I were live I would take all the criticism 2k is getting and address it officially. People have been complaining forever about canned animations on 2k. If Live doesn't have them id drop a 20 min video explaining it. People have been mad at 2k for the 1 archetype for about 2 years. If I were Live id be boasting that our system allows for multiple playstyles.


I could go on but im surprised Live hasn't been more aggressive. Then again they could be waiting to see what 2k drops so they don't look stupid for bragging on something they have, just to find out 2k has it too.




To the delay or cancellation idea I think that's not even in the cards. If Live delayed this game it would screw them over royally. Probably half the people that have money and were gonna buy it just because it came out first wouldn't buy it anymore. I think Live would be smart doing what they did in 16. They dropped Live 16 it seemed a full 2-4 weeks before 2k came out.

The fact that EA paid to have NBA Live 18 banners on the Summer League displays pretty much disproves this. They have decided on a cover athlete (that is very blatant if you follow their dev team on Twitter).
