Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

Quick impression that i'm a lot impressed!
    • Footplanting!
    • Left Stick movement and sensitivity!
    • Physical Momentum!
    • Realistic Stealing physicality!

As we've been all playing a lot 2k for the last 7-8 years i was solely and only interested for them to improve footplanting yet they couldn't deliver but the competiton here in Live 18 footplanting feels amazing that your players are on the floor moving as they should, it feels/looks and weighs great as they cover the tru amount of ground.

Left stick realistic movement is also related to footplanting as well so i've never been this happy and never really felt this great moving my players around on the court just for the sake of moving them you know!

Physical momentum is a joy to be hold. It's amazing all i can say i haven't felt better with any other game how your momentum carries away with your players. You sprint and if you sprint wrong you lose your space, you're not able to cover as you want because of true to physics momentum, it's lovely that you get loose by you've done a great job on that Live, great!

Stealing again, coming from the other game i can't express how much i love spamming or wrongly timed stealing risks you in a worse defensive position which is something beatiful again as for the physics fundamentals go, you don't cover up spaces unnaturally, you're putting yourself in a risk to lose your position or reactions on defense, so it's another great aspect that the game has beatifully covered.

A lot of downsides i could cover but; those points above shines GREAT!

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

I've only read half this thread. I've got 10 baseball games for both kids in two towns this weekend. Finally get a chance this early morning to play the demo and I'm forced to play "my player garbage" first in order to actually play the game. What a waste of my time. Is there no way to just jump into an NBA game? Some of you may like those modes but I hate them. Annoyed.

Really enjoy the demo, but Live Run is not fun because nobody play as a team. You can be open under the basket and they jack up threes, so they can get their points. Wish they would punish those players so how to make it more fun.

In The One there are penalties for taking bad shots. I really hope this is the case in Live Run as well.

Ball hogs should get -5 penalty points at least for throwing up contested shots. There should be zero incentive to that type of basketball.

I know it's street ball but in real life no one wants to play with that guy. There's always one. In Live Run there's always at least 4.

I like how Cpu Warriors play.

If you don't press Steph, he will take bombs. Klay loves to shoot after receiving a pass if you're a step behind. And KD is a killer all over the court.

Seems the intensity amps up in the 4th. The stars start taking over. Very nice to see.

This game is so damn dope.

              I lOOOOOOOVE The One.

I am addicted. Got my face scan done......created a 6’1 3pt SG. I am loving the parks. Fantastic presentation.

EA has made a superb “My Player” mode here with Live 18.

              So much fun.

Loving the "The One" part of the demo thus far... but I am kind of lost with the real NBA teams. I played two games on Pro, one with Cavs and one with Warriors. Won both by 30-40 points. Bumped up the difficulty to All-Star...and I am getting destroyed. CPU shoots like 60+ % from the floor and me, with my ~45% can't simply keep up.

So...any pointers for defense moving from Pro to All-Star? If I could "get" the game to click on All Star, I'd preorder in a heartbeat

I'm not going to write an essay on my thoughts. I'd only be repeating what others have said. I've played live from day one (lakers vs celtics). I actually still own every copy of live from genesis to PS4.

I will only say this ......"build on this EA, build on this !"

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

I had a nice lead with the cavs over the warriors late in the game on all star. Then curry hit 5 straight shots to bring it close. Won the game and did see the cpu intentionally foul with i think 20 seconds left to force free throws.

Im anxious to try some other teams out. I also wish their was a nice roster edit feature for the retail game that users could create rosters and share with edited gear, jersey numbers, animation releases.

I find it easier to do dribble moves with the baseline high but i prefer playing with the epsn camera. On turnovers i can initiate the fast break better without the screen flipping around.

I will be getting sliders locked down after release for sure. This game is going to rock this year.

I went through the same scenario. I blew out the cpu on pro and was getting blown out on all star. But i have started to win against them recently on all star.

When you get turnovers on the cpu push the pace to try and get higher percentage plays at the rim. Use the right stick to contest on shooters, sometimes its sensitive.

I was able to up my shooting percentage by running plays out the playbook to allow more open shots. Before i was forcing shots but they were contested bricks. I learned to not shoot unless i have some distance.

If you get hot with lebron or kyrie the cpu will start doubling them and then you can kick it out for higher percentage jumpers.

What i like about this game is the crowd presentation. The defense chants spark a chilling vibe to step up my man to man on ball defense. When i get a stop it has a life like feeling of satisfaction to go down the court and score.

The crowd atmosphere is a huge, huge step up from 2K. I went and played 2K17 after I got done last night and was floored at how dead the crowd sounds compared to Live.

I knew it was bad, but having a good crowd to compare it to makes it seem so inadequate it's not funny.
                              Any comments are welcome.
