Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

Ive put in some serious time so far and here are some more thoughts. I play with all fouls at 100 and on all star.

Steals are way better in 18. I had to have a house rule in 16 or I could virtually steal at will. I like that you have to really think about your timing or it's going to be a foul.

People are saying blocks are overdone and while I do agree I'm enjoying the strategy of choosing shots like early floater layups to get over the trees or giving an extra pass and really only going when I have a clear lane. I truly feel that's how it should be. It kinda is a different take on making it so you can't just drive to the hoop every time. 2k does it by bumping where as live balances it by letting you beat your man but blocking your shot if you aren't in the clear. Could be toned down a bit but I hope they don't nerf it totally or it could be arcade dunk fest.

Having sufficient foul numbers and players being in foul trouble won't be a problem like it has been in the past with live. At 100 there are plenty of fouls with lots of shooting fouls. Downside is ive had an obnoxious amounts of and 1s.
I had 10 in my last game.

Inside game needs to be nerfed a bit. Too many shots fall inside.

Players stand around way too much which wasn't a problem in 16 at all. I hope that's fixed in the retail version.

I wish players had a little more urgency getting to loose balls but I do like how things transpire pretty organically. Things seem fairly unscripted.

Hot and cold streaks in terms of runs are really well done as they were in 16. Feels great when you get hot and I enjoy the strategy of slowing it down and running plays to get out of a cold run.

The intro where the players are being announced with the cheesy music sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the unbelievable presentation. Hoping that's just a demo thing.

Love playing defense. Never ever have I felt good about playing D in a basketball video game.

      EA action low camera.

Absolutely my favorite camera of all-time for NBA gaming. So in the action, but still able to see the court.

I've seen a couple since my post but still haven't seen any blocking fouls nor over the back fouls.

Thanks and since it appears you are involved in presentation, can you please consider adding a Drive like camera that allows the baseline cams to swing out to angle Vision in from side somewhat.

More immersion and allowing you to see where you are in relation to court and see those sweet bank shots and glass play and position for rebounds better etc...

It may not be possible in the engine but it's not far from what the player lock camera does which I noticed can swing out to show inside or baseline shots a little better as it gets closer to the baseline, just closer to action and following the ball instead of one player .

            Thx ,

I know it probably cant be added (If its not already in the full version, idk what that Pro am Tour might be) but it would be so great if we could get a pro am PvP like the other company. What I mean is a:

full 5 on 5 game(if you dont have a full five, then you can select an AI player)

              5 minute quarters

              Fouls

              Stat Tracking

              Customizable uniforms and arenas

Have a progression system where the better your team, the better crate you could open.

              Private Matchmaking.

Re: NBA Live 18 - Demo Impressions

EA you have got to take the training wheels off or people will never learn anything.

Full court passes are near automatic online so far. cherry pickers are getting consistent wide open looks with little defense able to get back.

Everything baseline needs to be touched. Long animated reverse layups are already to much.

Its okay for players to look stupid when they force things around the baseline. Everything around the rim needs to be tweaked. As many have mentioned to many contested one handed sky hooks are falling in. Certain layups look automatic.

Punish folks for spamming turbo and dribble moves.

I am assuming it is not possible at this point. Unless a developer or WTF can confirm. Also haven't heard any response on whether we can manually bank a shot.

Do they not use BounceTek anymore? I'm seeing it happen a lot where the ball isn't being released during dribble moves especially if contact happens during it.

The 2nd video KD doesn't put the ball down on his hesitation, but what's worse is I didn't lose the ball in traffic and dunking on basically 3 players.
