Re: IGN Review on NBA LIVE 18 is out
I agree with the score.
The games negatives are:
- Gameplay is much improved but still has some wonkiness in animations and is severely lacking in signature shots/free throws.
- The presentation is average at best and the commentary needs a lot of work.
- There is no roster customization or sharing component.
- And franchise mode is pretty barebones especially when compared to 2ks my league and my gm.
To me that’s enough to knock. Off 3.5 points

Considering a lot of ppl base their purchases off reviews they see online especially from major websites like Ign....This game will not sell. Plain and simple.

I am actually a 2K player but have been looking for reviews cause after the demo (& 1st week of 2K) I been thinking about giving it a try. I enjoyed The One & Pro-Am however I am a avid franchise player and the mode for Live 18 doesn't seem to have good reviews.PS4: NappyNutSack

With so much missing I think the score is fair. Give the consumer what they consider a full complete product.

That's EXACTLY how I feel about the competition's "Keepers" ironically. Realism? meh.
I think Live's franchise mode copied a very successful model in Madden. Weekly advance, super free agent, team/player editing, and difficult trade logic aside, its solid in the information presented, the goals (even more than Madden in some areas) necessary to advance, and sort-able statistics, though not as robust as the competitor, and with minor bugs, its not a shambles as some would have you read and believe it to be IMO.
-1 for missing franchise options/features
-1 for lack of online head to head options (franchise included)
-.5 for editing
-1 for general bugs
+1 for no VC and the ability to jump in competitively in THE ONE from the start
Love everything else so far, including the new CFM feel to the franchise (If they add in NBA/WNBA online franchise modes?!?!?!?)
A 7.5 for me personally. I'd like to give it an 8 for the vast improvements from 16, and for being the biggest bang for the bucks in sports gaming this year, despite the missing modes, but I'll stay here for now. Again Kudos Live Team !Last edited by seanhazz1; 09-22-2017, 06:22 AM.Currently playing:

Re: IGN Review on NBA LIVE 18 is out
Really, I don't care how many game modes it has. If a game is not fun how does that matter. Its a basketball game first. All that other crap is worthless if the game doest play right. I played the other game with all the bells and whistles and its not fun like NBA live 18. Its gets no less than 8 my book.

Sure, I don't care about all the modes & such. But with 2k, i did care about the classic teams, and they have let that waste away. It was nice [customizing] all of my favorite players. But at the end of the day, none of that was enjoyed because I was just so frustrated/bored/unenthusiastic about the entire gameplay experience.
Oh, and ... 2k bias, that's all i gotta say. Even in the preview of Live on this very site -- writer was talking about how there's no variations in player models. Really? Can you not see the difference between KD's model, Curry, and Klay? I stopped reading right there. I feel like 2k is in everybody's pockets. (Ironically, 2k has everybody in their back pockets, charging everyone VC for haircuts & ish.) But hey, apparently they revolutionizing things still, taking career modes to new levels...pffft.Last edited by iLLWiLL; 09-21-2017, 12:58 AM.Comment
