Instead of just a Layup rating, have
- left hand finishing
- right hand finishing(instead of just layup where players finish the same with either hand. Would help showcase players like Lebron that can finish with both)
Instead of just a dribbling rating, have
- ball security
- dribble effectiveness
(Ball security for likelihood to be stolen from, while dribble effectiveness would be how much space a player can create with a crossover/hesitation/spin move. Would help big man who can dribble like Al Horford or Nikola Jokic without them also able to cross people over)
Instead of just a post moves rating, have
- post strength
- post footwork
(Post scoring is done in different ways. Take Kevin Mchale and Andre Drummond. Both can score in the post but in different ways. Drummond backs you down straight to the rim but you wouldn’t expect him to do a bunch of pivots and fakes. With only a single post move rating they’re not separated)
Instead of just an off the dribble rating , have
- off the dribble mid range
- off the dribble threes
Instead of just a contested shot rating, have
- contested layups
- contested mid range
- contested three
(Both of these would separate how players can be more effective at different levels. Lebron is great at contested layups but not so much at contested mid range)
Instead of just defensive awareness, have
- pick and roll defense awareness (making the right rotations on the roll man and ball handler)
- transition defense awareness (reaction time to get back to prevent transition opportunities)
- off ball D awareness(likelihood to get back cut)
Also would like to see ratings for skill moves like
- Euro Step Layup
- spin layup
- Step back jumper
- spin jumper
- post fadeaway
- post hook
- bounce pass accuracy
- alley oop pass accuracy
- screen effectiveness
- jab step effectiveness
- interception rating(it seems like every player can pick off passes with one hand/ deflect cross court passes. Should be reserved for y’all and long armed players)
