    Ratings Only Shooting

There's something that always bothered me since Live 14. I know you can set shooting to be either Ratings+Skill or Ratings Only. My question is, what does it mean Ratings Only in regard to release? Does it mean that the CPU-controlled release is a perfect release every time? Does it mean that release is taken off the table and has no affect on the success rate at all?

I don't remember reading anything about this. This is something that probably only a developer can answer, but it would be interesting to know.
    My Specs:

    ZX Spectrum
    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

    This is just a guess.

I will use the shot meter as an example even though I don’t use it.

Ratings plus skill is when you shoot, the ratings come into play depending on the type of shot it is. The skill come in by the shot release. So if curry is wide open for 3, he automatically has a green section in the shot meter. If the release is perfect, it is a guarantee that he makes it because you controlled the shot.

Ratings only is the first sentence only in the above paragraph and that is it. You will still need a perfect release but it isn’t a guarantee that it will go in. Kind of similar to real player % in the other game. Example would be an ok 3 pt shooter. That player wouldn’t have a green but if it is a perfect release, the factors of ratings like distance, off dribble, spot up, contest ratings etc determine if the shot will go in.

Ratings only is just that. Timing does not matter, just the ratings of your shooter and the defensive impact of surrounding defenders.
