How to Lead Pass?
In NBA 2K, lead passing is pretty easy. When I want to pass, I press the pass button, and during that 1 second between the button press, and the ball leaving the passer's hand, I can steer the pass receiver into open space or toward the basket, while I wait for the ball to move from the passer's hand into the air.

You're right to miss the ability to throw a guy open like a quarterback does. Even though it isn't the most realistic thing to telepathically communicate with your teammate before the pass where he should run, it's a great way to not only thread the needle, but to keep them from causing you to turn the ball over. In Live, a decent passing rating usually means the game does most of the work for you in terms of good pass placement (ie: usually throws to the least guarded side of your teammate), and in those cases the aim pass function isn't that important. Where I find it annoying af is when you have a teammate busting for what looks like a wide open corner three, but as you press the button he decides to sprint into the middle of three defenders in the paint, and of course your guy throws the pass into the middle of them and it's picked off. Other times they'll already be stationary and OPEN on the perimeter and decide to cut into the middle of the defense. Or even posted up and CALLING for the ball, and you immediately lob it in only for them to abandon their post position to run behind the defender. All of these lead to unrealistic turnovers. They either need to implement a pass aiming mechanic like in 2K or just make guys not make moronic cuts all the time. -

Another issue that I can't believe every single sports game seems to fail to address is calling for the ball; why does call for pass have to be the same button as pass? Like my other post on this thread, the issue could be solved by just having better AI. I end up calling for the ball a lot on the game not because I have to always dominate the ball, but because the AI is often unreliable or super slow to notice that you're open. 90% of the time it works out because I recognize that I'm open before my CPU teammates do, and the pass gets through. The problem is the 10% of the time that they're actually competent enough to see I'm wide open, because I'm so used to calling for the pass so the pass window isn't missed that I'll call for it just as the CPU is starting the pass, meaning I get the ball and immediately try to pass it to some random teammate. This usually results in a turnover, but even when it doesn't, it at the very least wastes my shooting opportunity. It would be so easy to allow custom control mapping (even if there are some limitations) so you could map call for pass and pass as two different buttons to avoid this. Either that, or: 1) make teammates reliably recognize open teammates quickly so I don't have to always call for it, or; 2) just make it so they never pass to you unless you call for the ball.Comment
