Re: NBA Live 19 Trial For EA Access Subscribers Available Now

As an offline Franchise guy only, I'm going to pass. If you're an offline Franchise guy then you won't be happy. This is clearly Streetball 19. I really like the gameplay, but it's not good enough to merit a purchase as an offline guy. No player editing (in Franchise mode). Questionable amount of trades (or lack there of?). Weird free agency results so far. Again, lack of jersey's. This isn't a game with a lot of replayability. Such a shame. I really like the gameplay, but this game isn't made for the Franchise guys at all. It's worth a buy on sale, but that's about it.

DISCLAIMER: impressions based off of the demo and two hours worth of the trial.

I'm almost positive I'm going to cancel my $35 dollar preorder, but will be streaming soon for the undecided guys. Will use my trial time to answer all of your questions and show gameplay.

But after that, the next week Kawhi Leonard had the Sacramento Kings as his number one choice and he accepted a max deal.

As far as the standings at the end of the season, the Warriors did win 55 games
. The Knicks somehow made the playoffs. The Raptors barely missed the playoffs as well as the Lakers barely missing the Playoffs

          My concerns with this:

The Warriors could offer Durant and Thompson the max. So either they did not or the players took less money.

I'm not okay with the former because no team in the Warriors position should avoid offering max dollars to two elite NBA players. If the concern is they are in tax hell then maybe but then that creates a follow up question of how budgets work in the game.

The latter is maybe okay except that several stars left their teams so it looks like a problem rather than a random personal decision.

Also, did the teams that signed these players offer the 4-year max? They better have or once again, Live has star players signing for below their value which is my biggest issue with how free agency is handled in the series.

I wasn't going to buy it at all because of the lack of franchise news until I played the demo. $40 with the loyalty discount is fine enough for me.

I'll probably pick up 2K when it drops to $40 for Black Friday so I can get my franchise fix

Injuries and Pre-Existing injuries are both in Franchise mode. There is a on/off toggle option for each.

Anyone playing on Xbox One X? Wondering if the game has HDR enabled. I noticed with the demo on PS4 Pro there was no option for HDR. Wasn't sure if that will be true of the full game or not. That could make a difference in terms of the sweat and graphics all around. Perhaps there might even be a day 1 patch for it.

Just disappointing to see that screenshot of Durant that is supposedly captured from the in game engine but, based on the demo at least, visuals don't look nearly as good.

It's actually really depressing. I really really like the gameplay and atmosphere. I wish they put more effort into Franchise. Between no editing inside Franchise, a very small pool of jersey choices, trade logic and free agency there is no replayability for Franchise guys. So much potential for a nice fun alternative to 2K wasted.

I don't see any option for enabling or disabling HDR. They only have color blindness, brightness and contrast options.

Hell, just having player editing and 30 team control would alleviate a TON of those problems and I'd be perfectly fine with it not being as detailed as 2k's MyLeague (2k still has tons of logic issues, etc. which is why 30 team control is perfect). Draft class creation wouldn't hurt either, but at minimum I'd expect 30 team control and player editing to be in even the most barebones franchise modes dating back to early last gen.

No HDR (which sucks because Madden has it, so does 2K) and the sweat is barely visible just like the demo.

Just can't justify paying full price for the game. If the past few years are any indication it won't take Live too long to go on sale. By Black Friday it'll probably no more than $30 if not less. I like the gameplay but I know I'll get a lot more mileage out of 2K. If I feel the need to scratch that Live itch I'll just go back to the demo for a little bit.
