Really well put. I get the loathing some have over the weak franchise mode. If that is your bread and better, this isn’t your game. I like that there is a fairly simple way to play the schedule of games, but I long since gave up any more interest in sim gaming.

What Live 19 has in spades is great, fun gameplay across several modes that let you play solo or part of a team, and as one player or controlling the whole team. The One, Live Run (and Live Events), Battle Courts, and LUT provide creative and interesting ways to play with your favorite NBA players.

Honestly, I think EA should drop franchise altogether. NBA Jam didn’t need a franchise mode to generate sales and lifelong fans of the game. So why include a mode that only drops your review score? Embrace what makes the game great.

I’m going to get hundreds of hours out of this. And by NBA 2K17, I was playing it less less. I have every version 2K and Live that came out on this gen. Live 18 was the first time I played it more than 2K. But this year’s release is going to see more hours than I ever spent on any of the previous 2K games.

I get why people keep bringing up the franchise mode, but at this point it isn’t just beating a dead horse, but it is missing so much of what I think makes Live 19 more than a great title, but a pretty important one.

I disagree whole heartedly about dropping franchise. If they drop franchise I’m out. I’ll play the one mode and think it’s fun but it’s more of a distraction when I need a change from franchise.

I so wish that franchise was deeper and that it was a focus but I’ll gladly take it for what it is as opposed to not having it all together.

Hmmm I don't want to be too long winded but this game has great great potential. It's really a couple fixes aways from being a really solid game. Top notch presentation and atmosphere. Certain things this game does really well, some not so good things. I was saying to someone earlier that neither game is superior, 2k and live, they both do things well in their own right. I love the look of certain players, they really nailed a lot of guys, jump shots have been nailed for a lot of players. Kevin Love for instance looks great, LeBron also looks really well done as well. The default game speed is too fast but somewhat fluid if that makes sense. I just like the game, I like 2k19 prelude as well. So much more to say but I could go on for days, I wish I could get in contact with EA concerning this game, I would love to work for this team I really could help.

Demo felt better imo, the full version feels way more stiff.

There's a certain unresponsiveness that's carried over from the demo. You feel it the post when trying to go up after fake and also jumping for rebounds.

Lots of players look bad..really bad

Arenas look great.

Not impressed anymore honestly.

I don't have really any dislikes as I have been a big supporter of Live for quick some time now, as for franchise , yes I'm a bit disappointed, but the bottom line is its playable to say the least. Its an not a total wash.

Demo felt better imo, the full version feels way more stiff.

There's a certain unresponsiveness that's carried over from the demo. You feel it the post when trying to go up after fake and also jumping for rebounds.

Lots of players look bad..really bad

Arenas look great.

I felt the unresponsiveness too as well as my player moving on his own in some cases (jumping for the rebound without me pressing Y).

Guys, in regards to responsiveness, please make sure you have optimized your TV and PS4/Xbox to allow for no or minimized input lag. I do this every year with every iteration of this game to find the sweet spot and it makes a MAJOR difference in user input response!

If anyone needs tips on what areas or variables to tune to yield favorable results, simply let me know. Hate to think some are missing out on enjoying this gem due to something as correctable as this.

Unfortunately them not focusing on franchise is just the nature of sports gaming overall right now. 2K has a better franchise mode right now, but if they were in the 2nd release of game rebuild like Live we all know they would focus solely on MyPark/MyPlayer/MyTeam cuz that's where the money and the interest is.

Just check what gameplay gets posted and talked about most on youtube/twitch/Twitter every year. It ain't franchise. People want the leveling up RPG elements. That's how they bring in the casuals. It sucks to me because it doesn't really feel like a sports game, but idk.

I just can't get over how horrible the announcer commentary is when playing an NBA game. The Duke PG (Jason Williams?) is the worse of the two. The Van Gundy commentary team from last year was much better. I want to mute the announcers but that's half the "broadcast atmosphere" right there. Kinda frustrating.

Everyone playing this game must be just playing the One mode. Lol.

Agree Van Gundy was far more natural sounding. Was so much more enjoyable during games. Don't know why the felt the need to change it. Not enjoying this team at all.

Also... regarding franchise. I don't want it gone and understand why people want it but I'd be fine if I could just have a Season mode for crying out loud. That's easy. Even a play now with real NBA schedule like they used to and how 2k does .

But if you like playing and simmimg franchise I can see why some stay away, but it's better than nothing and the other parts of the game are too good to ignore imo

The devs said on reddit that’s the new commentary is a multi year process. They’ve also said that it’ll get more fleshed out as the season goes on as the guys will be in recording all year.

In some ways, creating a franchise mode is a time consuming process. Look at 2k19s menus. They look really amazing. It's stuff like that, plus trade logic, different ways to draft and scout and build your team. You can also tinker with it because it won't break like game play will. It can have a broken part but say bird rights aren't working, it doesn't make the whole thing collapse.



That being sad, it's too bad you dudes are all jumping off before the game even starts haha. Whenever I play nba in the demo, as I've said, I am thinking of user v user 5 on 5 nba rules.



I think people are underrating how good the game play is in live. I can see why people say "it's trash", and if could use more animations and more ways to make people miss inside, but mechanically, as a game that focuses on positioning and not spamming steal and block, it's a welcome change. And watching the weight behind players movements.



Live franchise has never been good. They need the right rosters, good Sim stats, and stuff like that. Basic building blocks to make it worth playing. But I don't see there ever being a deep my gm like mode. 2k has almost 20 years under their belt on that. And like I said. It doesn't self limit, 2ks game play is self limiting now because there's not much more they can do without rebuilding the engine.
