Re: Official NBA Live 19 Impressions thread
I finished up the trial. I haven't bought a Live game since around '04 or '05 but have tried out I believe every iteration of Live '10 and beyond. This is the first one I've played recently that I had a lot of fun with. "The One" is a great mode and I can understand why EA seems to have put most of their resources into it from a business perspective. I'm not typically the kind of person that really enjoys the "create your own player" modes in sports games, but I put almost the full ten hours of the trial into this one.
That said, I'll look to grab it on sale down the line because A) I'm more of an offline franchise guy and Live just isn't there yet on this front and B) this two month window of game releases is just slammed....can't really justify two basketball games + some other big releases. Simply don't have the time for it.Comment

Re: Official NBA Live 19 Impressions thread
In some ways, creating a franchise mode is a time consuming process. Look at 2k19s menus. They look really amazing. It's stuff like that, plus trade logic, different ways to draft and scout and build your team. You can also tinker with it because it won't break like game play will. It can have a broken part but say bird rights aren't working, it doesn't make the whole thing collapse.
That being sad, it's too bad you dudes are all jumping off before the game even starts haha. Whenever I play nba in the demo, as I've said, I am thinking of user v user 5 on 5 nba rules.
I think people are underrating how good the game play is in live. I can see why people say "it's trash", and if could use more animations and more ways to make people miss inside, but mechanically, as a game that focuses on positioning and not spamming steal and block, it's a welcome change. And watching the weight behind players movements.
Live franchise has never been good. They need the right rosters, good Sim stats, and stuff like that. Basic building blocks to make it worth playing. But I don't see there ever being a deep my gm like mode. 2k has almost 20 years under their belt on that. And like I said. It doesn't self limit, 2ks game play is self limiting now because there's not much more they can do without rebuilding the engine.

Re: Official NBA Live 19 Impressions thread
Guys, in regards to responsiveness, please make sure you have optimized your TV and PS4/Xbox to allow for no or minimized input lag. I do this every year with every iteration of this game to find the sweet spot and it makes a MAJOR difference in user input response!
If anyone needs tips on what areas or variables to tune to yield favorable results, simply let me know. Hate to think some are missing out on enjoying this gem due to something as correctable as this.

Re: Official NBA Live 19 Impressions thread
Live obviously has very good foot planting mechanics, so I would like to see that play more a role in 1 on 1 situations....seems like guys can still shift into position a little too often and stonewall dribblers...
Whole clip is rough but theres no way Dray should be able to get back in position here.Comment

H2H was just very cheesy and arcade like. Playing against a real person, you really see how limited the game is on both sides of the ball.

Dray is a beast on d tho. Stonewall d doesn't matter as much when it's a moment. It's when you are force fielded in, or forced into weird animations. You prolly could have pulled a green j from there too.

Yeah that roll man is pretty much always open, lol....def missed Al there. I was just so surprised by Dray getting sucked into the screen like that I saw a wide open lane. Position wise thats a no brainer, but Dray shifted back in front of me.Comment

Re: Official NBA Live 19 Impressions thread
Looks like it sucked Tatum into an animation. Definitely need to let that be looser. I wonder if it has anything to do with Green's defense ratings (which is still not a good reason to allow it but if it's based on that then it needs to be pulled back a bit) or this will happen with anyone (bigger issue).
