The thing of it is, lives career mode is infinitely better than any career mode 2k has made in the last 10 years.
However, shooting in live is absolutely broken, because shot contesting in live is overpowered.

Yep the developers would stop listening to crybabies that refuse to learn how to play actual defense, and nerf the over powered BS shot contest mechanics, the game would be infinitely better.

I know I for one, am getting fed up with getting contested from 5 feet away or getting my shots contested even tho the defender is way way late to get to me and I was already in the air it with the ball released before the defender ever got his hand up.

It is pathetic at this point.

People bang contested shots on me all day. If it says contested I think it is gonna drop. They did raise the impact radius for some reason but I don't get impacted or rarely. If you're not a wing shooter or like a 3 icon guy you gotta get some rhythm before taking tough 3s. I hit 3s w pip a lot but I got the late contest trait.



Thing is, the real impact radius should be about halfway between where it was at first and where it is now, and that's only for elite defenders with a hand up at the right time. When the game dropped u had to practically block people to make them miss threes. They have gone alil overboard but only with the past two patches. But I think shooting "good shots" is easier and if it doesn't say guarded u could have made it. Haha. Maybe sometimes u can make a guarded top yellow but I don't recall making them. I've made plenty of top yellows over d tho.


N at matty Yea I mean I've known I've been talking to myself for some time but now it's like really apparent. Haha. O well.



Also disagree w lives career mode being better. Online is better. Offline is fun, but both need to be improved in different ways. Live needs Ai depth and mode depth. 2k needs mode depth like sandbox choices and less grind.

I mean I'm 10-1 in June. I've had some close games. Got the ball on a broken play with twenty something seconds left up two and greened a 20 footer. Was like jeaa. Had dudes go at me. Had a dude put 40 on me I think that was the L, but our team was trash.



Seems like they buffed stealing alil too which was also unnecessary cuz I've got like 10, 10, 8 steal games. With like only a few in passing lanes . Dudes trying to sauce me it's like no.


Basically what matters in this gm is shooting and blocking imo. If u can't block you can't carry on d. And watch the other team dunk over and over. All you really need, again imo, is 73 3 and catch n shoot or just get your guy in rhythm.. That's why I really think wing d is the absolute best build, so buffing d seems stupid for balance. If you're good at the game you want a wing d. Really good u take pip, but if u have a shaky j (even tho I do haha I'm still taking pip) you take kawhi.



Having Shooters is nice but only one shooter can block. The slasher w block doesn't get enough blocks. The only really bad match up for a wing d is a smart inside shooting rim prot or a post anchor who shoots hooks and doesn't try to dunk every time. But it's not w bad match up per se it's just someone you can't abuse with your d.



I'm summary, I'm happy d is op but it really is op atm and should be fixed. It marginalized a lot of builds. Would be nice to have some body contests for bigger non shot blockers so they weren't just and 1 fodder.

Nobody should be OK with any part of the game being overpowered. One part of the game being overpowered at the expense of another very very important part of the game is BS and everybody knows it.

I will say it again, I’m fed up with having shots “contested” from 5 feet away, and I’m fed up with having a shot “contested” when I’m in the air and have already released the ball before the defender even tries to block it.

so far as 2k is concerned, I play 2k for one reason and one reason only, my league, because it is the best franchise mode in all of sports gaming.

So far as career mode is concerned, nba live’s career mode is infinitely better than to 2k’s and it shouldn’t debatable at this point. The fact that my progress in live’s career mode is not artificially slowed to a crawl, because EA, as surprising as this is, doesn’t want to sell micro transactions in career mode, and doesn’t prioritize selling vc over fair gameplay, alone makes nba live’s career mode better than 2k’s.

Yea I'm jus saying contested doesn't matter that much, it's still a makable shot. It actually makes the percentages even out. It's impacts that make you miss. I dunno if u can get a top yellow impact tho. Or how much that matters. They did add +4 and +6 impacts. Dunno what the difference is.



I assume you're talking about online, you should post vid of some of these contests so I can see what you mean.


Edit: I have one shooter (wing shooter) but only play him when I'm clowning and take wild shots. I'm not a perfect release guy on js, better on fts, but I play defense a lot vs people who are shooters and I am speaking from the other side, as the one trying to make people who are good at the game, and have shooting archetypes , miss.

its literally been like 4 or 5 patches that went by since I've updated the game... I like the game so much the way it is that I just turn off xbox live when I'm getting ready to play live 19.

I was thinking of reinstalling and not updating but I’m not sure I can live without all the non gameplay improvements, shoes and outdated rosters.

I’ll probably just wait for 20 and pray they can find gameplay closer to how it was when the game released. That sounds like a foolish notion perhaps because why would they go back? But I honestly think the crappy changes are just band aids introduced to help lessen borked mechanics. Shooting is too easy so let’s make no one get open. It’s too easy to pass the ball all over the court lets have the cpu intercept passes better even if it means they will intercept routine passes regularly. Etc....m

So I guess I’m hoping they can come up with better mechanics and allow the fun to come back into the game.

They got the right idea, like with the bullet pass trait. But Yea passing needs work but the rating does matter. I play online and I always choose dudes w passing icons. But when you get gold bullet pass its just ridiculous. I pretty much know what people can steal or cpu. It's different so sometimes you get caught when someone quits but its so obvious when someone turns into a computer.



Basically you gotta pass the ball where it'll make the guy warp thru the cpu/defender for the lay up. But Yea Def needs work. But worse passers having less speed is a good start.



It'd be nice for any game to finally make passing rating matter. I like that live has at least tried, but I drop dimes w my post anchor, even tho I got post playmaker my pass rating is like 60 something. I think?

Doing my research today on reinstalling from disk and not updating it because I miss this game in my life. Is it true that the only way to do that is by not having my Xbox hooked up to the internet? Everything I’ve read says that even if you turn off auto updates it will still update it. That blows hard as I’ve got like 50 games that I would still like to have online and update.

They really need to do something about the Rim Protector Archetype, it makes no sense that scrubs like Cody Zeller are getting 10-11 blocks in a game. Any player that has this Archetype, regardless of their overall, is impossible to score on and that should not be the case.

They need to make some changes for Live 20. IF there is a Live 20 coming.

I went into sliders and turned blocks for user and cpu to 10. It helped so much. In the impressions thread there are slider sets too. They make the game play so much better.

It's hard to pass up a decent game for under 20, really. I got a few games I wanted for that price recently. Feels so much better to get a few games you've wanted than paying 59.99 for something.



All you dudes who buy live late, gird your loins and get online. Take your lumps. We need new blood. It probably will be cheap, but I mean we're super close to next years release. It doesn't take long at all to get a guy maxed, but the game really shines (at least if you are into online/created player parts) once you reach 100 and can make whatever archetype you want at 50. I imagine that takes at least a little while to get. It goes fast, though.



It was really harder to block people before and last year, so yea it does kind of suck they have so many blocks. They did scale it back a bit w/ this patch. It's not as bad as when they had people having an auto steal field, but they've still got a block field. People just need to get better, be in position. Need more non-block miss outcomes.



Cpu rim protector is insane.
