How much can you offer a FA when you're over the cap?

In year 2, I was able to sign Stacey Augmon to a one year deal worth $1.1m, but I couldn't sign Austin Croshere to a $3.42m deal.

Does anyone know exactly how much you can offer someone when you're over the cap?

If you are over the cap, you can sign a player to the mid-level exception which is up to about 5.5 million. But you can't split that up among 2 players. You can sign as many players you want to the veterans minimum of 1 million.

are you talking real life or NBA Live? I'm asking about the the game.

I didn't know you could sign a FA to a mid-level deal in NBA Live.

He cant be talking about real life, because that isnt true. You can split up the mid-level exception between however many players you want in real life.

FYI-got the answer from NLSC, you can offer a minimum contract only, which is like $1.1m for vets, and like $300k for rookies.

Speaking of exceptions, the lack of them is the reason I cant get into dynasty mode. You just cant have a fair system of a soft salary cap without having exceptions for teams over the cap. You see people complaining a lot about not being able to sign major FA without being under the cap in this game. Thats why the real league instated them.

I hear you but the $1.1m contracts you can give to veterans is a start.

Hopefully next year they'll add the exception. Remember, last year we didn't even have real $, we had points.

There are usually a few decent veterans available for $1.1 or under that you can sign-I got Alan Henderson, Kyle Korver, and a backup center (i can't remember his name).
