    Passing in ID2003

Sometimes when I'm running down the court (offense) and a player is cutting to the basket, I press in that players direction to get him the ball but for some reason, if a player is standing behind that player on the 3pt line, the ball goes to him.

Does that happen with anyone else and has anyone found a way or option to stop this.

    Thanks

I very rarely use directional passing. Icon passing is the best way to go. I know this may not answer your immediate question, but hopefully you will try to use the icon passing. Icon passing enables you to pass the ball to whom you want without any hiccups.

But that takes longer to execute since you have to hit 2 buttons. How does ID do the icon passing? Do they assign a position to each button like 2k3? In other words, is the pg always the x, etc?

Some people may feel it takes longer, but if you know where your players are on the court it is not much of a difference. I use icon control in every game I play. I do not want the compluter to pass it anywhere I did not intend to pass the ball. All you have to do is press the Y button and all of the icons will appear over the players' heads. The mapping of the buttons is based on the position. You really cannot go wrong. Just give it a try.

When I really have the time to play like I want, I whip up on my cousin. He did not know how to use icon passing and it would cost him games all the time. Ever since I have taught him how to use the icon passing, he can't go back. The games have actually been a little closer since then. I am just too good for him though. LOL!!!

Hmm, I've never been a fan of icon passing though. Getting used to which button is which is hell. I always seem to throw it to the wrong player but I will try it again anyway.

Might improve my game a little.

ID 2003's icon passing work's exactly like 2k3's.
THe control assignments are also almost the same.

But you can assign the crossver button to the right analog stick. It works like a stripped down version of Live's freestyle control.
push the stick left and you make a xover to the left. push it right and you crossover to the right.
