    ID 03 Question

Right now in my season I am shooting 87% free throws with Kobe but on the top 10, the lowest they have is 86.6 or so % and Kobe isn't on it...but he should be...is it maybe because his might be 86.5 and they just rounded it off to 87% under statistics...just wondering....oh, and another thing...I am shooting 47% 3's with Horry and the lowest on the top 10 is in the mid 30's so shouldn't he also be on the top 10? I'm confused...

I could be wrong, but I believe you have to average three free throws a game to be listed in the top 10.

so I would divide the number of games he's played by the number of free throws attempted by Kobe and see if you get three. If you don't then there's your answer. If you do, then I'm likely wrong.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

        Re: ID 03 Question

As in real life, Certain players need a certain amount of attempts to qualify for statisticial comparisons like that.

For example a guy like Wesley Person could be shooting 51% behind the arc, but he could have only taken 20 shots all year long. And made 11 of them. The leader, Ray Allen may have attempted 100 at seasons end and made 45 of them.

Usually they take a number like "a minimum of 60 attempts" and people over it qualify and guys like Wesley Person do not.

That's the only conclusion I can think of.

A perfect example wuold be Corey Maggette.

This year his 3 pt. % is at 38 %. He has only attempted 71 threes all season long.

He should be rated 30th on this list http://www.nba.com/statistics/defaul...FG3PQuery.html but the minimum attempts is set at 72 attempts. He is one shy and therefore doesn't qualify him on that list.

Thanks guys...that makes a lot of sense...I'm now thinking the minimum for freethrows is 100...I;'ve only shot in the mid 60's with Kobe...and for Horry...same story. Ive only shot about 30 threes with him...thanks. I'll see what happens if I get past 100 freethrows and then get back to you guys...
