Have you played the game? Graphically, it's not very different. In fact, it's almost the same, but gameplay wise, they've fixed a few of the major problems that plagued ID 2002, and they implemented sliders, along with a GREAT player editor feature that helps to customize the game to the way you want it. So yeah, it's way better than ID 2002. I couldn't stand playing ID 2002 after a while. I got sick of the blocking, and the offensive fouls in the game. It just wasn't fun. But I'm addicted to ID 2003, and the differences are much more noticeable if you've played the game for a while (something that reviewers I guess don't do, since they mostly claim that ID 2003 is pretty much a rehash of ID 2002 which is not the case) -

I asked the same question when it first came out and after I bought it I saw the big diffence. Especially the sliders. Didn't have to listen to "A lot of blocks Marcus, more rejections than a Friday night at a gin mill!" anymore.
A really good game.
