Which game (2K or EA) has the better 5v5 Team play?

I believe this is where I will spend most of my time so I would really like to purchase the game that has the better mode.

I realize this is a EA board but I hope I get some honest opinions.

    Thanks for the help.

It's a bit too early for an answer on that Freeze.
I haven't bought 2k9 yet ... but intend to do so.

The problem you run into with a question like this is each side has ardent fanboys. You really need an objective opinion from someone who doesn't care who makes the game.

NBA Live has made tremendous strides this year, but to hear it from a 2k standpoint, it's a piece of trash.

2k is a great, great game with terrific AI, but to heart it from an EA guy, it's a game that's reached its limits and doesn't touch Live's player models.

In the end, I recommend you head to your local videogame rental store and rent both.

        100% correct

Agreed again... and Im sorry, but people trashing this game haven't stepped back and looked at it for what it is.

I agree on all of that except the player models thing. That's subjective in the eye of the gamer.

Or just buy both if you can...its a good year for basketball fans for once.

I imagine live would be better because it's geared as a 1 on 1 game. So I think that would translate to 5 1 on 1s... yadig?

Well, Live has a more robust mode for sure with the Clubs (teams) system, 'Play A Friend', team play lobbies, etc. I'd say that 2K has the gameplay advantage simply because there are more options while not handling the ball (seal men in the post, juke to get open, set picks, grab jerseys, etc.), but the lag has been completely unbearable for about half the games I've tried. When it works, it's a great time.

I've only played Live OTP twice, but it was a good time both times despite a few people quitting. I think they improved the game enough this year that it's a lot more fun online and people can't just spin spin spin and dunk like you could last year -- more misses near the hoop. AS OF RIGHT NOW, I'd give the nod to Live simply because 2K's having major lag/framerate issues and most of the games that ran well didn't finish due to network error. If they iron that stuff out, I'd give them the nod in terms of actual gameplay/fun factor, though Live is definitely still the more robust mode.

I have only played 2k's and actually got it to finish. It rewards you for being a good teammate, not purely based on stats. I haven't played live, so I hope that gives you a little clarity. In general I have always preferred 2k to live, so take that for what its worth.

Cosign. It really makes me mad that 2k would deliever a product that has some many issues in an area they are usually very good at. 2k has always had a great online expierence, and not even being able to get into a game, let alone play when I do get in, is really killing the entire expierence for me thus far.

The biggest tip I can give you guys is to use Player Match almost exclusively and try to cap the number of players at 8 -- it'll almost always run smooth and finish if that's the case. If someone has a REALLY bad connection, then it'll stil lscrew things up, but if you stick to your friends list it shouldn't be a problem.

The Custom Ranked games tend to fill up less quickly also, so sometimes you can end up with 4 on 4 instead of the Quick Ranked where it's always full before start. The only issue with player matches is that you don't get graded at all.
