Does NBA Live play a better game of basketball than NBA 2K9? I own 2K9 but have heard REALLY good things about Live 09'...please advise...I Like 2K9 but the gameplay seems to have some hiccups like the players sometimes glide like they are on ice and i do not like isomotion...it is just not very well done IMO...

live is a good game man and the 365 DNA is great and i cant really say which game is better because to each his own but lives fun to play . one thing nba 2k9 has on live is graphics and the crowds but yeah i know what you mean about it seems like the players are skating on ice at times because you're right but its till good game and live is a good game also .. you should just download the demo man and check it out because i dont think you would be disappointed

Without turning this into a VS thread, I'd say Live plays a terrific game of sim basketball. Both games have theirs ups and downs but if I was to pick one for this year (and I did), it is Live. As the poster above said though, best thing to do is to try the demo.Comment

You get animation hitches and random weird stuff like that in Live (it's just not as silky smooth looking), but a lot of that is because the foot-planting and collision detection is much better in Live. If your two main issues with 2K9 are the player movement (including IsoMotion) and footplanting, I'd say that you're exactly the type that I'd recommend Live to, as it beats 2K9 hands-down in those areas.
If you're an offline gamer mostly, if you like running a halfcourt offense (calling a play every time down), and you don't mind the sometimes limited animations, Live (and NCAA 09, which I actually prefer gamepaly-wise) is a great game and I'd recommend it over 2K9. If you're more interested in isolation play, fastbreaks, smooth (and tons of signature) animations, and online play (there are just more people playing, a better sim community, and a much better league interface), I'd recommend 2K9.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

You'd have to rent it as Big said, but honestly, I give the slight nod to Live this year, based on strictly out of the box comparisons.
With 2K, there is a lot of tweaking you would have to do to get an enjoyable experience. For some people that's okay, but I don't think that we should be at a point where the default rosters are bad, the default sliders are bad, and the default gameplay sliders are bad. Controls are not where they should be either.Comment
