    Let's create the perfect game

    If you could create the perfect basketball game (or the closest thing to that), what would it be like? Here's a list of categories I made. All you need to do is to add the name of the game you'd take it from. Oh, and feel free to add more categories if you think it's needed...

    * Gameplay: NBA 2K8 (never played the next-gen version, but looks solid to me)
    * Layup animations: NBA 2K9
    * Dunk animations: NBA 2K2
    * Alley-oop animations: NBA Live 2005
    * Signature shot animations: NBA 2K9
    * Post-up game: NBA 2K2/NBA 2K5

    * Graphics: NBA 2K9
    * Player models: NBA 2K9
    * Cut-scenes: NBA 2K9
    * Insant replay: NBA 2K3

    * Commentary: NBA Live 07-09
    * Arena sounds: NBA 2K9
    * Music: NBA 2K7

    * Controls: NBA 2K8 (again, never played the next-gen version, but looks solid to me)

    * Features: NBA 2K9
    * Franchise: NBA 2K9

    Re: Let's create the perfect game

    NBA Live 2005 had way too many cheesy alley-oops, especially the one where they throw it in reverse. NBA 2K9 has more realistic alley-oops.

    As far as features, graphics, and presentation, I think the perfect combinations have not been invented yet. For example, I would like the features of NBA 2K9 with the mini-games of NBA 09 and NBA Replay of NBA 09 or NBA Rewind of NBA Live 09. Cut-scenes especially, there is so much room for improvement.

    NBA 2K7 did have some awesome music.

      I usually don't care about the music in the game, but I was addicted to "I love this game" (or whatever it's called) by Slim Thug. That song was a HIT!!!

      Keep 'em coming guys...

        I liked NBA 2k2 game play... you could actually defend in that game.

          I really liked 2K2's post-up game. I'm gonna add this category to the original post. Also added a "Instant replay" category. I liked 2K3's replays with the ESPN style morphs and all that. Man, 2K3 was like a real ESPN broadcasting.

            I'll take NBA 2K9's replays. Can be mistaken for real footage at times. Especially at the quarter breaks.
