Any answer to 2K's "My Player"?

I'm not trying to start anything here.

I check out both versions of NBA games (Sony's doesn't count), and pick the best one each year. It's been 2K for the past 3 years for me, but I never count out Live until I play both.

As a create player and player-lock type of player, NBA 2K's my player option is the best thing I could ask for in a basketball game. I know that EA has the Show for MLB, but how about for B-ball? Does EA have any kind of option like this for Live?

What about Live is worth considering over 2K this year? Convince me.

Boge... I dont think this thread will last very long but I will tell you this

MLB The Show was made by Sony, not EA

I dont think you played NBA Live last year because they had Be A Pro mode

As of right now EA hasn't really released their features to us so none of us can tell you what they did this year yet.

Now im going to give you IGN's take from last year and im going to laugh at their positive outlook this year on this type of mode in any game because if its such a positive thing why would they say things such as

his year NBA Live 09 offers gamers the opportunity to take control of a single player and determine his individual impact on the game in its new "Be A Pro" game mode. However, based on our early impressions, players looking forward to a hoops equivalent of Madden's Superstar mode, which allows gamers to select a player and guide and develop him throughout his career

Although the new feature carries a tag that reads, "Play your role and win as a team in Be A Pro mode," the mode actually places no importance on teamwork or team success.

Be A Pro mode rewards players for positive plays (such as scoring a basket, grabbing a rebound, dishing out an assist, blocking a shot or coming up with a steal) and penalizes them for negative plays (like missed shots, turnovers and getting scored on), then provides the player with a rating at the conclusion of the game. But, it does nothing to reward players for filling a role (help defense, boxing out to ensure that a teammate can corral a rebound, setting picks, etc.), encouraging gamers to stuff the stat sheet as thoroughly as possible regardless of which NBA player they've chosen to control.

        Funny isnt it?

As a matter of fact, Be A Pro actually discourages teamwork by penalizing players for failed double teams. So, when you rotate away from your man to help a teammate that's been burned by his, you actually run the double risk of being docked for your teammate's man scoring a bucket or being penalized if he kicks the ball back out to the player you rotated away from to try and prevent the basket.

Well if your hoping for a live version of 2k's "My player mode" you will probably be disappointed but live's "be a pro mode" could be a wildcard. But with all the improvements that the dev team have made to this game since live 09, i doubt they had enough time to make a superstar mode.

I am picking the game with the best gameplay dynasty and online, sure a superstar mode has been long overdue for B-ball games but im looking at game play first and foremost. If live has better game play then i can go a year without a superstar mode.

I played the demo of Live last year and that was enough for me to choose 2K.

Can you choose your created player for the Be a Pro mode?

I've been a Live guy the last few years so i don't want anyone to take me as being anti-ea or anti-Live. But "my player" while being less than perfect shouldnt even compared to Live 08's Be a pro mode. Do you guys realize be a pro was just 1 game? My player is a an entire career mode, like 20+ seasons.

EA hasn't released any info about its new features. So we don't know what they've improved to Dynasty or if there is a superstar mode. But i just don't see letting 2k have an entire gamemode to themselves for a year. As well as that, i saw 08's be a pro as a "taster" for this year. I'd be surprised if they haven't expanded it to a full size rookie-to-star madden style mode.

How did Live's "Be a Pro" work last season? I do not understand what you mean by one game.

You pick a player to play with and you play as them for one game and than at the end you got a grade. It wasn't like the show, or NHL's where you could play the whole season.

I prefer playing with real rosters anyway. I was never into creating a player (or myself) and playing on a team.
