Does anyone have both Live and 2k to do a TRUE comparison?

not the demos, but the real games

I have played 2k every year on the 360, but something about the player movement just seems weird this year. almost like I have less control of my player movement

the live demo isn't great but the player movement seems more smooth

i dont want to buy both, but I may have to

any insight from someone with both would be great

I do and hands down 2k is the better game. But Live is playable this year. But 2k gameplay and graphics are better.

I own both....Live is improving but I really don't like the cartoonish look of the players. Shoot animation also are not so good IMHO....
...overall Live is fun and you can play win nationals teams....

But 2k is still the "King" 2 me....solid gameplay better defense...training camp..summer league...a more polished product...

Well I have both games and they each have some good things going. Live's control of the players actions are definitely better then 2k's this year. 2k just seems so unresponsive. It's almost like fighting against what 2k's auto movement wants you to do. Performing an Alley-op in 2k is better then Live in the respect that it performs a lead pass to the rim vs Live the players jumps up where they are and if they can't make the basket they pull the ball down.

I noticed Live has illegal screens, and 2k has a lot of kick ball calls. Which for a sim user is something you gotta love. One thing about live I don't like is it is almost impossible to get an Inbound steal. The game is almost designed not to let you get it. Live's doesn't have a post button and since I'm a fan of controller customization this was a major let down as they do not give any options for change.

2k pisses me off because Big's still down play like they should. If you got an undersized defender on your hip as a big man; all you need to do is perform at minimum a drop step and a dunk. 2k will make you player do some bogus layup or fade-away. Live definitely has the Big man game down with the exception of a post button(wtf?!?). With Shaq he over powers his defenders in when he cans and stuffs it home. Other times hes forced to use a hook or another shot against evenly strong guys.

Graphics are just about even. Each has their own flavor but neither is a let down right now. Haven't played online as of yet. But I'll keep ya posted. Oh year and if you set the Atmosphere to Like playoff or finals the arena sound effects are nice Live. Haven't tried that in 2k but I definitely will.

which are a sad case alltogether. Almost no non-NBA player even remotely plays or looks like IRL, the lesser known players are just comically bad. Wrong positions, wrong strengths/weaknesses, wrong lineups.

It´s a freaking joke what they do with that license, really doubt the FIBA will renew it whenever the contract runs out. I´d love for 2K to give it a shot when that time comes ...

And just like in FIFA, every team basically plays the same.

Read Pastapadre as he says they both are very solid games it depends on what you like .this year if you like the style of live you will be very happy with your choice and if you like 2k then you will be happy with that choice.there is no clear cut answer as in the past .both are very solid and both offer alot .it depends on YOU.Don't base it on the demos either.

Yea there both real good. Giving 2k the slight edge. I don't know what is something just keeps drawing me back to it.

That being said you can't go wrong with niether game this year. From a gameplay stand point.

after playing 2k for a week now, it is hands down the better game. there is learning curve and cannoot be played like last year. this is the best simulation of basketball you will find.

im really surprised that no one has mentioned this before. like an above poster said live is playable. THIS IS NOT THE YEAR THAT LIVE TAKES THE CROWN. NEXT YEAR IS THE YEAR WE SHOULD BE LOOKING OUT FOR. THIS YEARS LIVE IS EA"S STEPPING STONE TO SOMETHING THAT MIGHT TURN OUT GREAT.

Just rent both they both offer something nice and make your decision.

if you want suggestions from people here on os there is only a select few that you can trust b/c they are unbiased and will tell the truth like da_czar and a couple more but anybody else will tell you a biased answer just b/c they been with that game for a while.

My answer to you is to rent them both and which ever one you are feeling the best go ahead and buy it b/c both games are good and it comes down to what you perfer in the end.

I have both retail games and im definitely enjoying Live10 more this year, it feels much more "fresh"...its real hard for me to accept the framerate issues in 2k10 this year since im a drive or 2k cam (behind the player view) kind of guy. Both are good games so no one loses out..it comes down to personal preference and for me its Live10 all the way.

So do you like Live because it's fresh or because its a better playing game? Freshness wears off but gameplay last until next year.
