Which is the better game for a casual Bball fan?

I am hearing great things about both but I am not a big fan of basketball and wouldn't have a clue about tactics and so forth. Which one would be more user friendly for a casual fan who is just looking to enjoy some games every now and then and not have to worry about the technical side of play?

For me presentation and atmosphere are big things in sports games too.

I'm glad to say you're out of luck this year, my friend. But, not totally. Put the settings on Rookie, and go wild.

Both games require some basketball knowledge, and strategy, beyond that setting.

Live has more user-friendly controls, though, IMO.

Oh, and if you have online, you can play a casual pick-up game of b-ball against up to 9 other players!!!!

If you need more help, try the 'Basketball (other)' forum.

You can't go wrong with the games this year. But NBA 2K's commentary and player presentation are top notch.

I've only played the Live demo (no 2K demo on PS3 yet). But from reading the boards and my past experiences with 2K (been a 2K fan for years now ever since Live let me down in the PSX days)....

Live is probably the more fun game to play. I enjoyed the demo and it reminded me of how much fun I had playing Live since the SNES days. 2K has more polish in the presentation and franchise department. 2K wins hands down with their post game presentation and overall commentary. But Live holds its own in terms of atmosphere and ambiance. Live's crowd audio and arena specific nuances are top notch.
