Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I stole this topic from the gamespot Live forums. LOL

Are you a former 2ker who finally made the jump to live or have you played/bought 2K10 and didn't like it so you switched to Live 10? If so why?

I have been a 2K'er since 2006. I bought Live last Saturday and haven't looked back. I rented 2K last night to see what it was like, and I couldn't wait to finish it so I could pop Live back in. Seriously. 2K has the better commentary, hands down. Heck, even presentation is a little bit slicker. But Live's gameplay is so smooth and so realistic, as well as the atmosphere's, that I can't put down the damn controller.

My wife, who hates video games, is having me teach her how to play because it looked so much fun to her. She also noted that she thinks Live's players and arena's look a lot more "realer" than 2k's. LOL.

2Kers all the way sice dreamcast days.
      don t even buy 2K because :
1/ allready know what to expect
2/ dont care about my player
3/ way more interested by dynamic season than franchise mode that i play for every game every year i want something new
4/been following the devs on os since the beginning being hooked by all their vids diary and focus on gameplay
5/ da czar impressions convince me that this game was for me

SO i dont buy 2K for the first time in a decade but if i miss something from a gameplay standpoint please tell me as i ll probably give this game a try, but as pump as i am by their new commentary system it s just not enough for me....

I picked up both Live and 2K this year for the first time since 06'. I very pleased with both. I never catatorized myself as a 2K'er or EA'er....if both companies made good products like they did this year I think its better for the consumer. I'm happy both games hold there own.

I've owned every 2K with the exception of this years version. Live's gameplay felt right.

2K till 2k9. Not going with 2k10 because I can just play 2k9 and get the same general experience.

NBA LIVE 10 is where it is at this year.

Yes I am a transfer to LIVE

I have purchased every 2K Basketball game ever made, but after playing the LIVE 10 demo I made the switch. LIVE 10 is the best basketball game I have played. I was just fed up with 2K's sliding and showing no real improvements. Mike Wang is the real deal, and the LIVE series has finally arrived.

Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I was a 2K'er since the beginning, hadn't bought NBA Live since the '00 version with Timmy D on the cover before picking up Live 10.

I first knew last year that a change was coming, I hated 2K9. Over-animated, zero defense, still crazy defensive recovery and rotations, etc. The game started to look better and better but play worse and worse. I gave up on it before the end of October I was so disappointed. With Live/NCAA 09 I really liked how they represented the fundamentals of the game. It felt really good, more natural and basketball-ish than 2K. There were still so many warts but I liked the foundation and NCAA 09 became my game of choice among the new releases (still played CH2K8 the most last winter). Anyway, by the end of last winter it was clear to me that 2K and Live were heading in opposite directions. 2K was starting to slip and Live was on the rise.

I felt both Live 09 and 2K9 were about 6-outta-10's. I think Live is about an 8 this year, I haven't played 2K10 and won't purchase it though I'll play it at my boys' place next weekend. If Dynamic Season is a home run then I might bump it up even more but there is no doubt that the gameplay, to me at least, is superior to 2K9 - I obviously can't speak on 2K10 yet.

The biggest thing about the transition to Live is adjusting and getting comfortable with Live from head to toe. Game play, controls, the little ins and outs that can only be learned through experience. The game is complicated and insanely different from 2K, there's no two ways about it. There is no way anyone who just played the demo could have gotten a full grasp and a good read on how good Live 10 is and what it truly has to offer.

There are some things that are already urking me with Live 10 but it could be user related (really struggling with the "press left or right on the stick for a fancy layup" scheme and the analog/freestyle passing gets my blood boiling sometimes), in time I'll find out for sure if it can be corrected.

The biggest thing with Live is that it's the most fun I've ever had with a basketball game. It feels right for the most part, feels like basketball should. If I've seen a player do it on TV then I can do it in Live. The engine accepts that fadeaways, leaners, etc are common place in the NBA and you can still make a realistic amount based on the player you're shooting with. The flow and pace of the game, the DNA and the offensive controls are clearly the highlights IMO. Defense, rebounding and the post game need work (though D might be great, still TBD for me).

I switched to Live last year because I'm usually ahead of most people in my divine discernment.

Oh..and then I switched back to 2K because I like the My Player concept. But I think I was wrong.

I am on the same boat as you. Been a Live guy since 95-2005 also. LOL. Took a break in gaming in 06 and from 07-09 it was 2K. Now I am leaning towards Live 10 for some reason.

Well I can say that I did indeed buy both games. But I have not even opened 2k10 yet because I have been playing Live nonstop and loving it. I have been waiting for the OS vets to come up with a good slider set and good custom music before playing 2k. I heard it was a mess out of the box. That's what I love with Live, out of the box it plays so well. I have only upped the collision foul calls and left everything else alone. This game is addicting. I quit Live when it made the move to next generation- BUT I AM BACK NOW!

I will give 2k a fair shake, but I gotta say it's gonna be tough to beat Live's fun factor and realism. Love the arena sounds and I love the way every team plays to their correct styles and tendencies.
