Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I made the switch and I'm glad I did. But I do have a couple of gripes that I hope gets fixed next year. Please add in-games saves, allow the user to set the season length (82 games is too many for someone busy to play), the low post game (I can't even post up a player and back him down in the paint) and include better presentation.

      Lol @ Dave.

For long time 2K ballers it may take a bit of time for you to feel comfortable when playing Live. There are a lot of old habits that you'll have to break to truly appreciate this title. Jumping back and forth between this and 2K10 would totally mess up my flow. Before the games dropped I debated whether or not I could play both games, but I'm so satisfied with Live that there's no point in me wasting my money on the other one.

Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

Like dopeboy and sportskid, I was a diehard Live player from 95 till 2005, and before that (NBA Showdown). I've been patiently waiting for EA to get it together and from what I'm hearing and reading, it's time to head back home.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the 2K series (had the very first on Dreamcast), but it started to feel a little too familiar. From 2K7 to 2K9, it didn't seem to change all that much. And I started to get the idea that if people had to constantly tweak gameplay AND player tendency sliders to get the gameplay to feel realistic, then maybe something was wrong.... Needless to say, after playing Live 09 and seeing the direction it was going, it is time for a change.

Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I started playing EA basketball along time ago. Probably with Lakers vs. Celtics but don't quote me on that at some point I switched to 2k. I think it was 2k6 or 2k7 maybe. Sorry getting old

I had 2k9 last year and enjoyed it for a little bit but then got tired of it. I played both demos for a little bit and thought NBA Live was more fun and played a good game. So based on both demos I prefered NBA Live. then I came here and started reading impressions etc. and how everyone was really enjoying it and how it played great out of the box which we can hardly say anymore. I don't mind adjusting sliders but it was nice to know that it wasn't all that necesarry based on opinions here. I think in some ways with sports games now we forogt what it was like in the old days when games were just fun. Between everyone trying to tweak sliders etc. it seems we spend more timing doing that than enjoying the games.

I haven't played the game yet. Just bought it today but can't wait to play and just have fun. Because isn't that it what it is really all about

Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I was a Live guy going back to the Genesis days (95 was tight) all the way through 2001. I switched over to 2k when 2k2 dropped and up until this year, had solely been a 2k guy.

This year, that all changed. The Live demo blew me away and after doing a lot of reading and video watching (thanks, Czar!), I made the decision to run with Live this year. 2k's demo really soured me; the skating feeling was still there with my players and the Isomotion controls just aren't as responsive as Live's freestyle moves with the R-stick.

The clincher for me was the Dynamic Season feature. I play mostly offline but due to work, find it difficult to play through multiple seasons in franchise mode. Dynamic Season not only allows me to go back and play games that I missed, but I can pick and choose which games I play. I'll try and play most of the Nuggets' games, but if the Lakers are playing the Cavs, then I'm jumping in and playing that game, too, or any other matchup that looks enticing.

The gameplay is so addicting in Live and the nice thing is, I don't have to wait for the "slider gurus" to "fix" the game. Yes, there are things about Live that bother me but all in all, this game is tight out of the box. 2k has always been a chore where you have to experiment almost constantly with sliders to get the game to play correctly.

2k still has a lot going for it and I may give it a look at some point but I can already tell that Live is going to be my game of choice for the rest of the year, and into 2010 as well.

Tried NBA live 09 last year for FIBA and immediately switched back to 2k9. Live 09 sucked!!! Hoped for the best from Live this year so I could enjoy a FIBA tournament. Played the demo for live and never looked back. I Love This Game!!

I like watching this series grow from year to year. Live 10 is really fun and It's almost there. For Live 11 I want the developers to put 80% of their focus on gameplay one mo time. Flashy presentation is cool but that ish can wait.

I'll still play 2k10 on pc but without a doubt the majority of my time will be spent with Live and then NCAA 2010...They have just come up huge. It's by no means perfect but the fun factor is off the scale

2k's issues seem to be repetitive from one version to the other

As of right now its too early to choose. I have been playing a mixture of both. I really like switching back and forth because they both do things very well that I like. But gun to my head I would have to say2k because of the Low Post moves, and the Rebounding, the addition of the putback dunks are a nice touch as well.

Since the PS2 came out, the only year I kept and enjoyed Live was Live 2005. Every other year, I've stuck with 2K. The last two, 2K8 and 2K9, were the best basketball games I've ever played. I haven't played 2K10 yet, but bought Live because I knew I'd keep it for Dynamic Season. This is a feature I hope revolutionizes sports gaming. I want to see it in every game and every sport.

I think it's great, however, I don't think Live 10 is better than the previous two 2Ks. So if 2K didn't take a step back, I'm going to be owning two basketball games.
After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!

After playing my last game of Live, the Cavaliers at Pistons, I felt the craving to go back to 2K. I didn't hear "Deeeeetroit basketball" at all. Is it even in there for Live?

I bought Live last night. Awesome gameplay. But I agree with one poster that it gets a little repetive.

Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I rented Live because I rarely trust anyone's opinion on basketball. Being a 2K guy makes it hard to judge Live because quite frankly, I SUCK. I find myself trying to use the shot stick and doing 2K'ish things. Once I get the controls down and become more comfortable with Live I will be able to judge it better and figure out which one is for me.

Honestly though, as much as I love the NBA I really only want to get comfortable with EA's hoops games because of NCAA Bball. With how it's presentation is shaping up I want to hit the ground running once it drops.

Yes it is. Played a home game with the Pistons today and heard that call several times during the game. Sounds nice, too.
