It just doesn't seem to work in Live or is just poorly represented. In 2k10 I can occasionally get a steal and take off down court with Lebron and Mo on a 2 on 1 fast break and pass back and forth and finish off with an amazing slam that looks awesome! In live, everytime I get in the same situation it appears that the CPU controlled team gets down court super fast and Lebron and Mo are stuck in quicksand! No flash or dazzle....you have to run your normal offennse instead.

Now I know that this is a small part of the game....but to me having a few fast breaks per game is pretty important and when they come.....they can change the momentum big time. 2k just nails this.
Unfortunately, I agree with you. The lack of fastbreaks is a HUGE omission by EA, for the 2nd year in a row.

It's VERY dissapointing to. I'm otherwise enjoying the heck out of this game.

I'm REALLY holding out hope that they address this with the upcoming patch. I want to play dynamic season this year but, the games in Live are just halfcourt fest....... game after game.

It makes the games all 'feel' alike after awhile and there is no way I can complete a 82 game season with every team playing halfcourt ball.

I got my fingers crossed with the upcoming patch. If they do not deliver a revised transition game, back to NBA2K10 I go.

Fans raved about the lack of fastbreaks last year and I just knew they would get it right for Live10 but, they didn't.

Re: Any Former 2K10'ers Who Made The Switch To Live 10?

I've been playing NBA Live since they came out with NBA Live 95. I really never considered playing NBA 2k. I didn't like the cameras that 2k was using at the same time you cannot edit the jersey numbers on past 2k releases. It's a good thing they corrected this problem.

NBA Live made some improvements this year. Graphics are much better. The movements are much better thant previous release of NBA Live. The only thing that they didn't do a good job is making the game more realistic. I used to post on nba-live discussion forum. I was thinking about buying this game this year but I had to ask some questions first before I buy this game. One particular question that I asked pertains to the season mode. You see I don't play dynasty or fantasy mode basketball. I've been playing season mode and I usually based it on the current season. What ticks me off about NBA Live is that the CPU now makes the trades. The only thing realistic about their season mode is the current game schedule which is accurate. In the past versions of live, you can modify the roster and starting lineups cpu controlled teams. They took away that option in NBA live 08. Last year I got disappointed with Live 09 since they still have that feature. I found out that Live 10 has the same thing as well.

Hey if dynasty mode is your game I think you won't go wrong with Live. The only difference between 2k and live is that the controls are much simpler in NBA Live than in 2k. That's one of the reasons why I didn't play 2k in the past. If EA would consider realism as an issue next year probably I might purchase NBA Live again

Well there is a fine line between a simulation and boring when it comes to Live. A lot of things feel really sim and reward you for smart playcalling and good halfcourt play. That is good. But with no real fast break mechanics there is a lack of spark in my mind. Where amazing happens? Isn't that the NBA tagline? Nothing felt amazing when I was playing it but most elements felt steady. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

Now 2k10 has some holes in it's defense and the control scheme is a little more complicated. The defense in the paint is almost non existent and the players do feel a little animation heavy if not slightly floaty at times. Still.....there is this element of excitement in the game where I know at any minute I could make a steal and be on a fast break the other way. With Lebron I can perform 3-4 different slams to finish it off, even more as the CPU seems to sub in other dunks in addition. It feels alive....It feels electric and it gives me goosebumps like when it happens in real life. Too many fast breaks can get a little cheesy but we can always compensate for this with sliders. With Live....there is nothing short of a patch that will add this element of the game.

Still, 2k10 may be missing a few of the fundamentals of Live's halfcourt play, but just like in real life....it's flash and amazing dunks and passes that put people in the seats....and for another year....I have my butt planted in the 2k10 arena....where amazing "does" happen. At least for me.

However, after really taking a closer look at Live, the game felt incomplete. To me player models are so important especially my favorite players and Live fell in that sense. As great as the gameplay, passing and spacing is I just couldn't believe how bad the models of Gallinari, Milicic, Chandler, Delfino were.

As many have said here that Live plays better out of the box that is correct. But slider tweaking to 2k and is by far the superior and realistic game. I felt that Live was getting to jumpy and animated for me for an nba simulation game. Also 2k's image metrics adds so much to the authenticity of the game is just incredible. 2k10 is just an elegant and subtle game of basketball combine with finesse and power that is what I was looking for in gameplay.

Of course I have the urge to go back and play live but the game is not convincing enough when the models are 60% horrible. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about models in 2k10 looking incredible. Hopefully this helps anybody that expects a lot from the design department!
I feel some of this but completely in the opposite direction. 2K has horrible faces for some of my favorite players and ones i've been following for years and like to use. Paul Pierce & Ray Allen's faces in 2K kill the immersion and the Perkins face hasn't been touched since he was drafted. Kwame Brown wore a sleeve for one stretch as a Wizard 5 seasons ago and 2K10 still has him wearing a black sleeve, not to mention a horrible face/hair model. I understand not being able to account for players changing hairstyles & accessories but I can't understand giving them hairstyles and accessories they've never worn.

I've also found Live to have much better ratings, especially in the case of a role player such as the aforementioned #1 pick. The guy is still a starting center only because he has been able to rely and very good post defense, yet his rating in that arena is near the bottom of anyone at his position in the game, and this has been the case for years. In Live, I can at least trust that Kwame Brown plays like Kwame Brown and that type of thing is very damaging for me when I think about switching back to 2K.

Live has better models & faces for the aforementioned as well as multiple others. Of course there is something to be said for making a vicious play with Kobe in 2K10 and seeing him pull out the Kobe-face. Also stuff like players licking their lips and other little details that aren't in Live are nice. While Live's overall crowd ambience is preferred, I think 2K has more chants (don't know if they're all signature or arena specific) and stuff so its crowd is no slouch, and NBA Today is a beast as far as commentary.

I still feel the most apt difference between the two is that 2K is more a game of moments than a simulation. Sliders can help transform the game into one but like many i've been there and i'm not interested. I've played enough 2K to know that its good enough for me to have been satisfied if I stuck with it but not good enough for me to feel dissatisfied with Live 10.

It is funny to me that people would try to put someone down for choosing one game over the other for graphics or something graphically related. You can get both games playing a decent game of ball (depending on how discerning you are & if you can deal with handicaps) so obviously if you have to decide it's going to come down to other factors.

I'm a 2Ker but I haven't truly made the switch to Live yet. So far the only game I own is Live 10 but part of that is due to 2K releasing a game with frame rate issues and other bugs.

If Dynamic Season is as good as it's advertised Live will probably get the most play from me. My Player is likely fun as hell if the Draft Combine is any indication so I'll pick up 2K later on just for that mode.

I was with 2k since the dreamcast, but I absolutely love Live this year. I play almost exclusvely online and there aren't nearly as many exploits on Live as there are in 2k's engine. After the modes, atmosphere, shoes, wears off, you have to be solid in the gameplay department. Live attempts to make everyone play sim. I love it.

2k's issues seem to be repetitive from one version to the other
My god, I really said that..but then I got 2k on pc and now I find Live almost unplayable.Repetitive from game to game, lifeless commentary, animation-poor(more like destitute)

is 2k perfect,no...but with the right tweaks, this IS NBA Basketball.Athletic and exciting.

Add me to this list. Bought both and have barely touched 2k. I've been playing Live online pretty much exclusively. I tried 2k and it just felt too stale to me. Adding KG's powder clap to the intro isn't what does it for me. For me its all about gameplay and Live's got it.
