What's your honest opinion. I haven't played either because I'm waiting for my XBOX to get fixed. I've been a 2K guy for the longest, but the more Live videos I see, the more I am impressed by how much the game has improved in just a year. Letting Mike Wang go may have been a mistake because I think the rivalry is actually going to be competitive from now on. This video in particular has me DROOLING to play Live 10:

No matter how good live is, the animations still look 2005'ish. It's been like that for a while and will probably be for some time...My Specs:

Why do these threads get closed?...I can understand if people start acting like "fanboys" and just start talking trash but to compare and contrast the game should be appropriate for the board.
First off, both games are awesome...first time that I have bought them both in 8 years.
2K is much better looking and smooth...my wife comented that this game looks a lot more like real basketball than Live.
2K Pros
Association Mode- So deep and the simulated stats can be fixed with Nogsters Roster once it is released.
2K Share- Awesome feature
Dunks- Great rim detection and beautiful dunks and oops
Sliders- Best sliders in the biz
Live Pros
This game is pretty much ready for realistic stats out of the box at 10 min quarters with fouls all the way up.
Love the contact when going to the lane
Great gameplay online...superstars play like superstars.
Actually prefer post up game
Dynamic Season which should be awesome for stat junkies.
All in all if I had to keep one game it would be 2K just based on how amazing the animations are and the depth of the association mode."Don't complain about the show if the ticket is free."Comment

I picked up both games this year. I have been a 2K guy during the dark ages of Live. Last year was the first time in forever that I ended up playing Live more than 2K. I really didnt enjoy 2K9 at all. I thought Live felt like a more entertaining game of basketball. It wasnt perfect by any means, but 2K9 just felt robotic to me.
This year it feels the opposite to me. 2K10, after some slider tweaks, feels like a much more realistic and authentic game of basketball. The teams and players seem to be much more like their real life counterparts. The best example so far was playing against Indiana. They continually passed the ball out to the perimeter and lit me up. It felt like I was actually playing the Pacers.
A few things about Live this year.
1. I dont know why anyone would be happy with the post up game in Live. It doesnt exist. Big men are marginalized at best and ignored at worst.
2. Live has glitches and AI problems the same as 2K, just maybe not as obvious. I have had numerous instances of the AI team not even running a play and just dribbling out the clock.
3. It has by far the best arena noise and atmosphere in any game not named NHL 10.
Still, when all is said and done, I think this year is much closer than its been in years and Live is close to overtaking 2K. We will see next year, but for now Im probably playing 2K more than Live.Comment

I rented both...and returned both.
There is no point in discussing 2K any further than what is already transpiring in its main forum section...it is a mediocre effort at best. But my biggest complaints with the series are it is WAY too animation heavy (I don't even feel like I am playing sometimes) and there is zero in between game (dunks or 3's).
Live is close to being a purchase...the halfcourt game is amazing...but the AI in regards to fast breaks and transition basketball is just BROKEN. Players don't run their lanes, etc... Because of that, I have zero interest in playing it anymore. In addition, the paint game does not exist.Comment
