My bro and I always argued about which is better

On launch day I bought Live and he bought 2k10. We played a couple games of 2k, and I thought it was pretty good. I beat him by 26 points easily, because we were doing fast breaks and scoring in the paint pretty much the whole game. I told him, this aint realistic is it? He said "boy you crazy, this game is sweet".

Then we tried LiVE! I loved it right right away because I noticed I couldn't cherry pick 3/4th of the game. My bro said "man why this game so slow?" "And why do they run like monkeys and slide all over the place?" "I like 2k better cause you can stop on the dime man!" "I do like the crowd tho". "Oh my god why do Pau Gasol look like that...hahahahaaa!" He nick picked the whole time we played but yet he still said it was fun but 2k is wayyyy better.

He said 2k is wayyyyy better but I can tell he had more fun playing Live despite all the complaining he did.

He came over to my house again 2 days ago so that we can play both hoop games again. Played 2k first and yet again still easy points pretty much the whole game. Played Live next and my bro finally, FINALLY came to his senses and decided, in a embarrassed kinda a way "Yeah man I think I am going to trade in 2k for this" "The crowd is so live and makes it fun." "I also like that I can see the shot clock on the court a lot better than 2k."

"You were right earl, Live is really underrated."

My bro is so different than me. He's a follower and buys games based on hype and success from previous years. And to me thats not being a wise consumer. NEVER STAY LOYAL TO ONE COMPANY! The compitition is always trying to out do each other. And this year EA finally out did 2K.

Same here... I'm a former 2k fan & decided to switch to Live 10 after how many years of playing 2k basketball games.

Gameplay is more important to me than graphics & sound (commentary). That's why I've chose Live 10 this year, its because of the much improve, better control, and realistic gameplay that Live 10 has provided.

So to the Live devs out there I would like to congrats you for doing a great job this year & I hope that Live will keep on improving & getting better in the future especially in the aspect of gameplay. Just continue to make the game sim, fun, & most of all as realistic as possible.

Re: My bro and I always argued about which is better

So far I'm undefeated in Live against my boys who are 2K cheesers. They would always smack me in 2K over the years because I play sim and they would cheese away.

They try the same old stuff they've gotten away with in 2K for years: trying to steal every pass (esp inbounds passes), full court pressing all game, doubling everywhere, iso-ing their way into the paint every time, passing to a guy right under the hoop, etc.

They have tried the same stuff in Live and it blows up in their face. Every time they gamble on D and get out of position I get an easy bucket or a wide open three. When they try to R-stick dribble for five straight seconds I get steals. When they try to pass the ball recklessly, especially into the paint, I intercept plenty of passes. Real basketball baby. Basic basketball strategies and concepts work beautifully in this game.

I've said it a lot lately but it doesn't get old, Live 10 human vs human is a remarkable experience and by far the best basketball video game I've ever played hum vs hum.

I play offline for the most part. I wish I had the association in live!

I think human vs. human Live wins the battle but offline association 2k wins big.

Re: My bro and I always argued about which is better

Live is not sim. The stats maybe sim but the gameplay isn't. 2K imo is more sim than Live 10. I used to own Live 10. I traded it in for 2K10 and I don't regret it at all.

Fadeaway 3's in Live 10 are game killers. I never got annoyed of graphics and player models as much as I did in Live 10. The rebounding also feels scripted. Players glide through the air for rebounds, ect.

Now 2K isn't a perfect game but it is still the more complete game of the two. Did I regret buying Live 10? Yeah. 2K10? No because I have faith the patch will be a game changer for the better.

I agree with this. Live is a great 2-player game and excellent on-line where 2K falls short. However, with slider adjustments, 2K is the better 1-player game. Even with the bugs. But I'm assuming after the patch it should kill at least most of the major bugs.

C'mon man don't sound like a fanboy, the notion that one game is sim and the other isn't makes you sound like a fool. There are TONS of problems with BOTH games. Turn that microscope of yours over to 2K for a moment.

                          1) Defense is horrible. Your CPU teammates are brain dead. In turn defensive rotations are poor. Literally 1/3 of the elements of the game of basketball (offense/defense/transition) is a complete joke in 2K10.

                          2) The paint is open like a 7/11 and just as easy to get into, you can literally plop a guy right under the rim and throw it into him any time you want for a layup/dunk.

                          3) CPU Shaq rotates/closes out to a perimeter shooter as quickly as Tayshaun Prince does. This f's up the the CPU rotations because they often happen to quickly. That's sim?

                          4) The crazy, patented 2K sliding. It's sim to stop on a dime with Shaq?

Both games have plenty of things to complain about and it all depends on what you want in a game and what you can deal with/overlook in terms of issues. Both games are different and both games are good. I don't see how anyone can say one game is "more sim" than the other or something as crazy as one game "is not sim".

Agreed as well, 2K has always shined in Association-type modes. The pace of the game is better vs the CPU as well in 2K, in Live up tempo teams do not push the ball enough. The fouls and post game are much better in 2K as well. And of course the animations are a thousand times prettier (though they don't really affect gameplay).

If the patch does what it says it will do (which I'm skeptical about, they couldn't fix the defensive issues from 2K9 to 2K10 so I'm not sold they can fix them in one month with a patch) then I'll buy 2K10.

2k10 is an arcade game in my opinion. You can run and gun and be successful in 2k and thats not my kind of hoop game I want to play. My bro finally figured it out as well.
