The EA demo feels like the players are on ice skates. The players have no weight and the physics are way, way off in my opinion. That being said, I hope that the real game is fun, playable and has a deep dynasty mode. I would like a new hoops game but I cannot imagine this touching 2k8, which is amazing two years after the fact.

EA to buy College Hoops 2k8 game engine?
If the graphics from this year's EA game were slapped on the 2k8 engine, then I believe we would have the perfect game. Since it appears that 2k is not going to be in the college game anymore is there any chance EA buys their engineers' work of genius?

Quite frankly, I don't care if the engine on 2k8 originated with Atari 2600. It is far beyond where EA is at this point. From many peoples' point of view, this is the best "next gen" title.
I love the CBS/ESPN presentation potential. The graphics are amazing. It's too bad that they cannot nail down the gameplay, which is the most important part.Comment

CH 2k8 was great because of how deep it was. It's gameplay wasn't that great. In fact the reason I'm getting this game is because I believe it's a upgrade in gameplay. Plus NCAA 10 has such a better engine. According to Mike Wang, there is so many limitations on the 2k engine. Which is one reason he left.I will always, always be a Jets fan. But trust me it hurts.Comment

The College Hoops and NBA 2K series share the same engine. There is no way in hell 2K Sports would sell it to EA Sports.Comment

Re: EA to buy College Hoops 2k8 game engine?
its within the CPU AI that I see the beauty of it all. a true waste of 120 bucks this year yet again after live10 and 2k10 fail to truly "upgrade".. ch2k8 does alot more right than many give it credit for.. its like looking at something and recollecting. at the time, it appeared to be above average in the gameplay department, yet 2 years later, no game can deliver what that game has. so if that game is above average, that leaves everything 09-10 just below that mark, which shows signs of digressing..
there has to be a reason why im giving up playtime with the newer games and going back. i just dont do things for no reason. its not nostalgia in the slightest as a i barely played the game at launch. but going back in time, you see when that team peaked and then went in a new direction.Comment

Of course in terms of depth, it's no contest. 2K8 still wins hands down.Comment

I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one who feels this way. In fact I'd call it a dead heat between NCAA 09 and CH 2K8 gameplay. 2K8 is better in terms of having realistic physics and fewer imbalances (ie. you don't have the zone D turnovers or lack of offensive rebounds that 09 did). But 2K8 doesn't even come close to 09 in terms of having a realistic flow or feel to the game. I've been playing alot of 2K8 lately, and while I love some aspects of the gameplay, I can't get over how disjointed it feels compared to 09 (and certainly compared to the NCAA 10 demo).

NCAA 10 wins in gameplay from my impressions of the demo. It's seems much smoother. I felt 2k8 was scripted and I could tell the CPU's next move many times.
But if NCAA 10 has no depth in dynasty then its back to CH2k8.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment
