If EA considers giving up on NCAA Bball, could 2k make another College Hoops?

I believe the reason CH 2K decided not to continue with their game, was because their wasn't a big enough market for college Bball. Recently, there has been a lot of talk of NCAA Bball for EA being cancelled in the next couple years. If this is true, their could be a good market for College Hoops 2k. Does this mean College Hoops 2k has a chance to be made again?

I think they stopped because there was a rumor going around at that time which said that EA was trying to get exclusive rights with the NCAA.

I have no doubt that 2k will attempt to create another 2k title if EA drops.

2K dropped College Hoops because they couldn't afford the Licensing.

Not 100% true. The game sold about 25% of what the NBA Title did. The market just wasn't big enough to support 2 hoops titles for 2K.

If I'm not mistaken there isn't a license. So if NCAA drops CH 2K could easily make a game. Their only problem is that the market may not be big enough for even one college basketball.

Hopefully they make it if this happens. CH 2K8 is amazing, but with new animations, and a little better sim engine I'd be in heaven.

Yeah CB, that's the article I looked at. I don't think it would have been smart for 2K to continue the license when the game doesn't have that big of a market. Not too mention it comes out after the NBA Titles.

Like I said in the Live forum. I wouldn't be suprised at all if EA followed suit considering how much Live got crushed by 2K in sales.

i miss this game, but it was not very profitable so they couldn't really do much

Is there any links you were talking about with EA considering to stop releasing it, this is the first time I heard it in a while.

If it were to happen, I think 2k could if they were going to be the only college basketball game out there and the license wasn't costing them a ton of money.

2k decided not to make another game on their own

2k beating out Live in sales has nothing to do with the College games themselves honestly CH was way better than the NBA game

Sorry. Bad word choice. Should be changed to potentially instead of considering. I read somewhere, think it was Pasta Padre, that with EA struggling with sales, that they may be forced to give up this game soon. It's the same as the discussion of Lives future. It doesn't look good. What I was trying to say was 2K has an opening to potentially make College Hoops again. Sorry for the mix up tho.

Coolege Hoops 2K8 is still the best basketball game 2K Sports has put out since the Dreamcast.

It's just really hard trying to imagine EA AND 2K dropping college basketball. But its also hard to see EA staying in much longer considering to lack of return on licensing and production. To be honest, it seems like they're probably bleeding money on the franchise....
