Is NCAA Basketball 10 better than CH2K8?

I own CH2K8....but am seriously intrigued by NCAA BBall 10......If you own the game.....Is it better than 2K8? WHy or why not....

I think the only thing NCAA 10 has over CH2k8 is court spacing. Otherwise I think 2k8 is a much better game

Thanks! I may play the demo and rent the game to see if I like it.But 2K8 was just great all around.

I am one of NCAA 10's biggest supporters. I truly enjoy playing this game ( I enjoyed NCAA 09 as well). It is just a fun game to me period.

That being said, CH 2k8 is probably my favorite basketball game of all time. There isn't a game that I have spent more time with than CH 2k8 (CH 2k7 was a close second). But I love college basketball and I love college basketball games. NCAA 10 does many things right and it is really fun to play, but the game does have its share of issues. Freezing has been a problem for most as I am sure you have read.

Graphics wise and Court wise the answer is yes.

Presentation wise = Yes.

Animations and gameplay wise = No

Playcalling and options = Yes

Dynasty vs Legacy = Legacy

Features and customizations = Yes

Player editing = Yes

Classic Teams = No

Amount of teams = No

So I guess you have to decide what's important to you and run with it.

If college Hoops 2k8 had more customization options and the option to create real schedules for my legacy to mimic this seasons, I would have said no!

But it's nice to have a newer and more fresh feeling title, and NCAA BB 10 does just that.

Let me edit one answer..

Animations = No

Gameplay wise = Yes. (Calling plays and cpu A.I. is a lot better in NCAA Basketball 10. It just feels like College Basketball.

while I have enjoyed several of my first season of games in NCAA 10 dynasty mode, I would have to say this is NOT the 2k killer you are hoping for. Some parts of the game are excellent ( presentation, motion/running your offense)...others are just either clumsy or feel unpolished (recruiting, overall features list..)

I have played 2k8 since it has come out over two years ago and I'm not sure I could recommend this game UNLESS you are looking for a new experience altogether....AND it might just make you sort of mad inside that 2k stopped releasing CHoops games. With that being said, you'll have fun either way!

I agree, I don't see how 10's customization even gets close to touching 2k8's.

Well from a lot of standpoints it is.

Lets compare some of these features side by side or neck to neck.

Faces

2k = sliders, blush, hair and facial hair options.
(problem though it's against around 80 of the same generic faces that you just have to alter a tad bit)

10 = 6 to 8 tone levels and about 200 to 300 faces and hair style per skintone.

Bodies

2k = skinny, thick, athletic, muscles, and normal

10 = thin, skinny, thick, heavy, muscles and normal

Shoes

2k = basic school shoes and generic white and two tone generics.

10 = All name brands and any colors can be placed on any player. (They have unlimited variations)

tattoo's

2k = place them on all players

10 = more placement areas, but only on created players not presets.

Shot styles

2k wins this, I won't even bother with NCAA BB 10.

Stadiums

2k doesn't win this, the option is there, but its with many glitches, from removing schools names and jerseys, to disappearing student sections. So it's flawed and never will work.

Extras

2k has 2kshare, shrine for unlocking teams and stadiums, basic tournaments, open and closed legacy and more.

10 = every style of tournament in the NCAA, better online, ea sports world, EA locker sharing, CBS and ESPN integration, pre game shoot around and practice, edit school streets and facilities in Dynasty, Coaches emails from every one around the NCAA, recruiting, and more. Better scheduling system. And RPI updated daily to weekly.

I give 2k8 many props, as I am enjoying it, but a lot of things are really better custom wise and feature wise.

I guess it all depends on how each gamer views it, 2K8 has some amazing customization stuff that you did not mention...


Edit court (I know Edit School (name, coach name, etc) effs everything up but just changing court colors does not.
More authentic arenas (some low-major arenas are amazing)
Roster editing allows you to change player class, add redshirt/transfer/injury to a player, edit player tendencies
Can move players from one team to another (great for transfers)
Almost every in-season tournament (or at least a fictional name representing a real-life tournament) in legacy mode
Can change what conference each team is in before starting a legacy
Can edit CPU's playbook before each game to get the CPU to play more realistic.

When you say "classic teams=no" do you mean 2K8 just had more classic teams or do you mean 2010 has no classic teams whatsoever?

EA removed the classic teams this year, there aren't any in '10 unfortunately. They were horribly inaccurate in the previous versions of the game anyway.
