          What do You think?
yeah the 2k10 movement is very bad especially compared to Nba Live...

Was NBA 2k9 really that bad? I honestly don't remember it being too bad. Or is it simply because NBA 2k10's improvement reveals the flaws of 2k9?

Just asking because I was wanting to add an NBA game to my huge collection of games (which would be 2 games: CH2k8 and NCAA10). I really can't afford to buy a $60 game.....so I was thinking of getting the much cheaper NBA 2k9. I did really enjoy 2k10 while I owned it, but traded it in for NCAA 10. Just kind of wanting to play some NBA every now and then. Should I just wait until I can afford to buy NBA2k10?

Yeah, 2k9 isnt a very good game. CPU offense heavily relies on back door cuts (In some ways, CPU cheats), there are many other flaws I can't recall right now. Last year, I chose 2k8 over 2k9. Live 09 and 2k8 were my NBA games last year.

2K basketball series have awkward and difficult control schemes to adjust, especially 9&10. When you get used to the controls, 2K becomes a very good game due to its depth overall and great commentary.

I know you love to play EA ncaa basketball series. If I were you, I would look for Live 10. Franchise mode doesn't offer any depth but its great for pick up games. One thing though, it plays pretty similar to NCAA 10. So if you want something different go with 2k10. To me 2k9 doesnt worth anything, even 10 bucks.

Thanks....like I said though...I actually really enjoyed NBA 2k10 when I had it. I just can't remember my feelings for NBA 2k9 for some reason (getting older is screwing up my memory ). But I do remember liking the association mode in 2k10 (I don't play online...strictly a dynasty guy). The only reason I have been hesitant on Live 10 is because I wasn't sure the dynasty mode was deep enough to keep me interested. (Really enjoyed the demo though)

Yeah, 2k10 offers a lots of depth. 2k9 dynasty is was pretty good too, even 2k8's was better then Live 10.

One thing I remember about 2k9's dynasty is that generated players (rookies) have tendency problems, like after 10 years best new player averages about 17-18 points at most. I don't know if you would play that long. But one thing I'm sure about is that 2k10 doesnt have a similar problem.

You can try 2k9 on your own risk, since it will be very cheap. But to be fair, 2k10 makes 2k9 look really bad.

                    Bro--were we separated at birth?

I loved CHoops 2K8 like everyone, didn't like NCAA Bball 09, but own and like NCAA Bball 10. I'm more into college bball, but I picked up NBA 2K10 on Black Friday for $25 at Wal*Mart. I've been playing 2K10 ever since. Don't--DO NOT--get Live 10 man. Save your money up and get 2K10 again bro.

                      I would say
                      1.) 2K8
                      2.) 2K10
                      3.) 2K9

2K8 had, by far, the most fluid player movement. 2K9 changed things up considerably, followed by 2K10, in terms of using the controls to initiate animations; next thing you know, all of their footplanting work is masked by the inability to stop where you intend.

2K9's Assocation menu was totally unnavigable as well, but the player movement was noticeably bad.

2K8 is such a great game!!!!! This game is a little better than NBA 2K10 in the gameplay and player movement department!

Interesting post...I was just playing 2K8 after 2K10 yesterday and was thinking to myself that 2K10 is nice with all the animations, presentation and higher res textures that look more lifelike BUT, I just couldnt get over the fact of how smooth and fluid 2K8 felt to play.

It just has more of that 16bit console video game feel that is so responsive and addicting.

In comparison, 2K10 has a sluggish feeling to the movement and control of the players that isnt as reactive and fun to control. I think with all the added textures and increase in polygons, there is a performance hit that just detracts from the overall gameplay. I personally, would rather have less of the sweat, and detailed stadiums, crowds, etc and get back that smoother video game play of 2K8.

                          What do you guys think?

2k8 was the last 2k game i enjoyed, nba 2k(backdoor cut)9 is a bad game

if you are/ were a 2k baller, now is not the time to go with live. 2k10 is an OK game if you can look past the movement which is terrible IMO

I couldn't agree more! I was playing a game last night against the Lakers (updated Rosters) and Kobe took over in the 4th Quarter just like in real life which is ALWAYS welcome! Everybody plays to their strengths and make you pay for your mistakes. GREAT game!
