people are over exaggerating in my opinion. When i look at 2k compared to live i see that 2k yes, has almost based their game off of canned animations. But that is just it. they CAN do that because they are GOOD at it. I have never seen a bigger variation in canned animations than i have in 2k10. When i watch highlights of 2k on youtube, i see animations i have never witness yet.2k has an animation for almost every scenerio you can think of. Not even to mention, they have a ton of dribbling animations that you can customize to fit your player. So you can have a different package of dribbling styles for each kind of move. Thats how deep 2k goes with animations. I really think people are asking something that they are not going to like when they get it. Right now thats the best tech we have in order to recreate those dynamic moments that you see in real life. Thats pretty much 2k's phsyics engine. So until better technology is invented people will just have to deal with the milliseconds of "lost control"

Like the previous poster mentioned, the drawn out animation sequences in both games were overstated. True, once they triggered, you lost control for a second, but they typically played out at logical moments.

The only canimation sequence I can think of from NBA 2K10 that actually bothered me was when playing on ball defense. The crossovers and the defender's reaction to the crossovers were animated which I didn't like. 2K11 seems to make this interaction completely dynamic now though, which I thoroughly welcome.
According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

2K10 had an animation where a player shooting over the defense inside would often make automatic contact and shoot a double clutch, forced shot. Other than that, I was totally fine with the way the game played. I'm not sure if that means I like canned animations or what, but it was great to me.

Yea they've polished it up. Just like you said 2k is actually good with animations hell the game went int eh guiness world records for the most animations in a game...the developer even said it'd be a month before you see all the animations in the game..i think all 2k10 needs was some major tuning but saying that its animations were crazy long and unlogical is somewhat over exaggerating. In that nuggets vs. Magic demo you even see anthony throw up a shot akwardly right infront of the rim with a defender in his face...THATS THERE BECAUSE no real guard would shoot that with a defender right in your face. It just frustrates me that when people classify games that make you lose complete control 2k is one that comes to mind though i will admit at times the defense reaction did get to me but if you think about it..it depended upon the defenders on ball defense rating right?
