NBA Jam: I need some shooting tips

I'm using the buttons instead of the analog stick to shoot, block, pass, etc.

I can't shoot at all. I'm air balling 3's with Vince Carter while on fire - ugh. Any tips?

I use the Grizzlies and drain 3s with Mayo and Gay.

The first tip is don't shoot fadeaways. They are a much lower percentage shot.

Second tip is set your feet and shoot a regular, non-turbo shot for maximum accuracy.

Shot timing is the biggest thing, though. Go into practice mode (JAM Camp) until you get the shot timing down.

Knowing your players' hot spots is also huge.

Once you have the shot timing down and know your hot spots, you basically will never miss aside from getting your shot blocked.

Gay and Mayo pretty much never miss from their spots if I time it right, and they are only rated "6" and "7" at 3 point shooting, respectively.

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try.

I still think they need a patch to fix the on fire 3 and dunk misses.

For dunks, I just keep the dunk button held down all the way. You don't have to bother with the stupid double-press mechanic.
