HOOK Mitchell - YouTube

Hi, guys.
I was talking to my brother the other day we were reminiscing about the old days growing up in Oakland. Man, we would play hoop, baseball, and even tackle football at the park! We would often sneak off and head further out (N. Oakland) to watch street ballers do their thing at the now famed Mosswood Playground.

Kidd, Payton, Shaw, Davis, Ealy and Foster used to run there from time-to-time. The games were always hardcore and the older guys cut the young pups no slack. I also remember a shorter guy that would jump over cars and dunk like it was no big deal. (No kidding!) I couldn't remember his name but I remember everyone would chant HOOK, HOOK, HOOK... So, I decided to GOOGLE "HOOK, Oakland".

The very first link listed is for a guy named Demetrius "HOOK" Mitchell. As soon as I saw his picture I knew it was him; the guy that jumped over cars at the park! He was a short muscular guy, had incredible hops and did some amazing things with the ball. I was about 13-14 yrs. old at the time and I remember how easy he made every move look.

Anyway, I won't bore you with my story but I would like to share the YouTube video I found the tells HOOK Mitchell's story....
