Well, I agree to a certain extent. The graphics should be at least decent. If they're just decent, but the gameplay is the best, it's enough for me to just choose that game over another game that looks amazing, but has flawed gameplay.

Re: What do you look for in a basketball game?
Gameplay 1st, and 2nd
Graphics 3rd
Season and other stuff 4th
There was a game from 989 a college bball game with out of
date graphics and not many options but the gameplay was
Very Good.
I debated whether to get that 989 game or march madness,
which looked way better and had more options but the
gameplay was very mediocre.
My friends and I loved that ugly game many hard fought
battles were had playing it. It was the most intense bball
game I played (until ID). I remember being undefeated
going into some small college and getting stomped on the
craziest thing was the crowd was going ballistic and they
had a barn like homecourt that thru off my game.
EA bball games are loaded with extras and stats galore but
But you always feel like your sliding on ice, and defense
is atrocious in all their games. The cpu is a cake walk,
and that freestyle control only masks these issues.
I dont care about franchise mode at all cause after you
complete one season of play most bball games will be easy
to defeat again. You have guys averaging 20 point wins a
season against the cpu and loading their teams with allstars
that is not fun or a simulation to me.
Create a player is a must just for fantasies sake!
Throwback jerseys and shoes and such is cool but just dont
take time away from improving the ai to make ADIA Doras!
In the end I think it all works out for all of our gaming
needs.
Live continues to push the stats and menu area
ESPN 2K continues to push the graphics and interaction area
High voltage continues to push the gameplay area
Each game producers raises the bar for one another so that
hopefully we get great bball games every year.Comment

I agree totally. Presenation etc IS important, which is why I am pumped up about ID 2004 when hopefully it catches up with the sublime AI in the game.
It's no use arguing with the 2K guys that graphics aren't everything...I mean, I love that series also, but some guys here get wood everytime a feature like moving shirts or sweat gets added.
Who the F cares!
What do people want...Reggie Miller coming off a screen...or...Reggie Millers shirt moving?

Sorry but the jerseys alone moving is too good to pass up regardless of gameplay. The fact that the players look photo realistic in ESPN is reason to buy it. I'm not worried about gameplay in ESPN since it has always been great and far better then the compititon anyways. I expect dramatically enhanced graphics every year in sports games where they need it. I buy a car based on looks, shoes and clothes based on looks, date girls based on looks. So you see if the game is not good looking to me(moderatly fine girl) compared to the other(extremely fine girl) then I will go with the best looking 1.
Graphics 1st gameplay 2nd. Both are better than one without the other but I will choose graphics over gameplay because I'm a graphics whore due to the stunning visuas games these days have. It's to be expected that a game have great graphics and not subpar graphics.Comment

Re: What do you look for in a basketball game?
I want the total package. Gameplay is high up there, but I need the combination of everything working in a seamless package to really get me going. If it plays well, and looks like crap, I really don't want to see good plays coming from crappy animation. And vice-versa. I don't want to see awesome player models who run around in circles. There has to be a balance and a continuity between them all. I want everything. And in this day and age, where there are at least 3 games competing head to head with each other, you can get everything. Or will get everything in the not so distant future.Comment
