Be cautious however, those of you thinking you can easily move in and attack the ball holder will find yourselves racking up more fouls that you will points. The foul calling is nearly ridiculous at its most strict level and you will probably even find it a little harsh at the most lenient setting. Of the games I played so far, I found the game stopping nearly every time I tried to steal the ball as I would get called for a reach. This is a good indication that you will have to well time your moves and take advantage of a narrow window of opportunity for a turnover attempt.

This bit was actually one of the most exiciting things listed for me. I want fouls and foul shot attempts to mirror that of a real nba game. More fouls (if implemented in the right way) are a big positive in my books.

Hopefully more shooting fouls and not just reaching in fouls. I thought they called the reaching in fouls fine, it was the charing fouls and blocking fouls in the paint that went uncalled, and there was a distinct lack of shooting fouls as well.

I really hope they put in some "hacking" type animations this year so if you hit a guy who's open near the bucket and he takes it up strong i think that if there is a man nearby he should come over and foul the hell out of the guy taking the open dunk/layup and send him to the line. In id2003 basically once once the attacking player has started his dunk/layup animation then the play is over, the only thing that could possible change the play is a block or an and 1 which dosen't even change the dunk/layup animation. In a perfect world the offensive player would adjust when there is the presence of a defender and change his shot attempt accordingly or simply try to bang it on the defenders grill (this could be regulated by dunk rating and intensity/aggressiveness). They should also add the ability to pass out of a dunk/layup and to double clutch ala nba 2k3. These feature should be standard across all games imo.

So far the presentation is really looking a hell of a lot better and the animated crowds make a huge difference. I can't wait til October.

The ability to pass out of a dunk or lay up was first in
IN the zone for PS1. That game was great for its time.

However that feature is not a must have for bball games!
Just nba jam or street type games. Those passes lead to
turnovers most of the time in the Nba and streetball!

I do think that attacking the rim and pulling off a DR J like reverse would be AMAZING. This is how In the zone was
however the shots always went in and the animations were the same for all players.

I only want to see high flyers pull this move off with a score consistently. Can you imagine George Gervine hanging
in the air and scopping a finger roll under a defenders arm
                  AND you controling it all!

                        Jonesy,
I agree completely brother. There is nothing more annoying than going up for the dunk and knowing that you will a, either complete the dunk, b, get blocked, or c get the dunk and 1. There should be changing your shot ala ESPN Basketball. And yes, passing out of a dunk layup should be in all games. It doesn't matter if it leads to TO's or not. It happens in an NBA game all the time, it should happen in our NBA game.
