Tips on how to do this: For those who you see too much movement from, lower their vision and maybe even their intensity. For those who you see shoot too many times, lower their mid-range shooting tendency as well as their short-range tendency, and long-range tendency. Do stuff like this, and you'll get a more realistic game, IMHO. I'm still working on it, but I'm getting some lower scores as a result, less movement, seemingly more fouls, etc.

ID 2003 and its sliders: Are players overrated in many abilities? YES
They are. Can anyone honestly say that they've seen players at the 3-point line get the ball and actually step INSIDE the line for a 2-point shot? Especially when they're not doing so well as far as 3-point shoting is concerned? I haven't seen it, but I just made it so it WOULD happen. Personally I think the willingness to attempt mid-range, short-range, and long-range shots are WAY too high, as well as many other things. I'm working on my sliders right now, especially for the Spurs and Nets and I'm testing them out, and I think I'm getting a much more realistic game now. More fouls, more of an inside game, less 3-point shooting by the AI, etc. I actually saw Tony Parker step INSIDE the 3-point arc when he was wide open and got the pass to hit the J. There are times where movement now will become stagnand and it's up to me as Kidd to shoot the ball. Time actually runs out and I have to force a shot because nobody else is open. this kind of stuff just does not happen out of the box, because there's just too much movement.

Re: ID 2003 and its sliders: Are players overrated in many abilities? YES
All this crap aint needed I have great games without all these sliders.
Some of you guys want a perfect nba game but thats the problem their
is no perfect game. Stop shooting threes so much why adjust sliders?
You want a tougher game play with the bulls or clevland and stop
picking 90 rated teams.
The only slider I use is speed and fancy dunks for the cpu.
I want to get burned and I like faster players, but VISION, thats
overkill.
Just my opinion -

I'm talking about the AI shooting too many 3's. And that's your opinion. Personally, I think there is too much movement in the game, and lowering viison helps fix that. I've never seen players that could shoot 3's actually step in the 3-point arc to shoot their J's until now, as well.
If you don't want to read this stuff, don't. I'm just offering insight to others who are struggling to make this a harder game. Personally, because of all the movement in this game, it's too easy to score. This definitely makes it harder, and I seem to notice an increase in fouls (which there was a definite lack of, when playing without sliders). I think players are overrated in this game, and if what I'm doing makes the game more realistic for a lot of other fans, so much the better. Hell, I think the game's the best already, but it's not perfect, and I'm using its deep player-editing system to fix what I think is wrong with this game.

Re: ID 2003 and its sliders: Are players overrated in many abilities? YES
My opinion
This is the toughest BBall game by far and the cpu shooting 3pts makes the game more difficult!
You should stop choosing the top teams and this will make the game tougher.
Do you think they would make Duncan shoot 50% you must be crazy people would hate the game.
FG% should always be higher in games to make it more fun.
The NBA today has horrible shooters because of shot selection, Stat junkies and the lack
of fundementals. I dont want my game Iverson shooting 40% in a 9 minute game!
How dare you say the players move to good, live and 2K4 fans would kill for this.
I love the game because of the movement and scoring is not automatic.
I play as the cavs for now and every game is a battle win or lose.
My FG% is very high but I take very few bad shots and I run the plays, The cpu however always
adjust to my play style and forces me to use more options and they score too.
You are trying to help and thats good but people only see the negative most of the time
I agree this game aint perfect but it aint that easy to score if you stop using THE TOP TEAMS.Comment

Re: ID 2003 and its sliders: Are players overrated in many abilities? YES
Wow, did I even SAY you should be doing this? I'm offering ADVICE on how to make it a better game. If you're not interested in doing this, kindly shut up and move on. Seriously, it's like you expect everyone to follow your lead or something. Yes, ID 2003 is the best b-ball game out there right now. However, IMHO, it DOES overemphasize the amount of movement in today's NBA. I'm out to make the perfect sim, so if that means I want more fouls, lower FG%, higher intensity on offense and defense, less inflated stats, etc. it's my right to do so. Part of what makes ID 2003 so great is you can customize the game to the way you think it should be. For instance, I used to play with the Wizards and I had a WINNING record with them. Stackhouse would go off for 60 every so often and he lead the league in FG% and ppg. That shouldn't happen, so I would tone down Stackhouse's vision, have him hold the ball more, etc.
As for Live 2004, from what I've been hearing, they've finally added off-the-ball movement, so kudos to them. I'm glad other games are progressing, I just hope NBA sims get better and better.Comment

This is the typical "[censored you naughty boy]" response, from someone who doesn't have the slightest clue as to what "realism" is. You don't make a game right by forcing the consumers to pick the weakest teams, you make it so that the consumer can play with any team he wants and have fun doing so. You do understand this concept, yes?Comment
