I've tried both, and live's gameplay seems to be a bit better but still doesn't satisfy me as it seems like everything is predetermined and you just have to find a way around it.

Espn's gameplay seems dead, players move off-the-ball but they move like robots, and the plays are very generic (only 4 plays). Graphics are a biggy in the game and 24/7 mode is huge, but other than that, I don't know about the game.

What if Shootout 2004 beats them all? I'm hoping there's a game for ps2 that blows away the competition in basketball sims.

i liked 2k3 last year but got tired of it...hated live cus it felt like street with rules...and i liked shootout but had a few gripes: graphics blew, couldn't see player ratings and couldn't adjust the time of games in career mode if they fixed those things then i favor shootout as the darkhorse. i'm hearing great things about live, though, so i gotta check that out.
